Wow. Obsidian are truly the masters of RPGs.
>>333885096
PoE is decent, don't you tarnish good rpgs u cuck.
i would have preferred the old school THACO BG2 system though.
>>333885096
If you actually want varied choices you should have been playing Age of Decadence instead.
>>333885096
RPGs are getting more and more streamlined since people are fucking casuals who never read shit anymore.
They took the lowroad with the writing and im glad it flopped. I don't really give a shit about them adding homos and trans, that is not excuse for shitty writing.
>>333885257
>PoE is decent, don't you tarnish good rpgs u cuck.
The only cuck around here is Josh Sawyer
>>333885096
found the aspie

Oh boy, this thread again!
Don't worry OP, I'm sure you changing your text around will mean it's not deleted this time!
>no choice to change your mind and back out of sex
nice "RPG"
>>333885096
To the uninitiated: This dialogue screen is partway through the conversation, which is triggered partway through a companion quest, when you've already expressed interest in the conversation's subject.
The reason that multiple options exist is because your character can develop their reputation based on what they say in conversations, so having multiple options with subtle differences - even if they lead to the same immediate result - is useful for establishing your character's long-term reputation. This is doubly important if you're playing a paladin or priest, who is expected to act in accordance with a code of behaviour.
>>333886335
That's a lot of words to explain away bad game design
>>333885257
your low standards doesn't make a game good
>>333886009
Alright, this made me laugh
PoE was such a disappointment. I wanted the next BG, not something that the whole time I'm playing it just makes me think "I'd rather be playing BG".
>>333887012
I think that's its fault, all things considered. They tried so much to appeal to the BG fans that you wish you were playing that instead.
Its merits, whatever few it has, will always be overshadowed by its progenitor.
Combat's done worse, the story is worse, the villain is worse, the setting is worse.
Dayum shame.
>>333887012
>Project Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment.
>>333887490
With those expectations, PoE was destined to fail
>>333887739
That's straight from their kickstarter page.
>>333886984
>>333887490
To be fair, it did have more of a dungeon focus than BG. I kinda liked that aspect.
>>333885096
>What can you tell me about x?
Why are there shit tons of dialogue options like this in every WRPG?
No one talks like this.
>>333887781
Yeah I know, which makes it even more baffling.
It basically translates to
>How can we grab the nostalgia dollar while at the same time absolve ourselves from our lofty goals?
>>333886465
>>333886563
If you're going to do this shit, at least try to space them apart more than "just over one minute".
>>333888192
>>333888212
>only one person could disagree with me!

>>333885502
oh god, did he died?
>>333886335
This guy gets it.
>>333888370
There are plenty of legitimate criticisms of Pillars of Eternity. They've been posted exhaustively on this very board, in fact. It takes a unique breed of imbecile to have to fall back on "NUH-NUH-NUH-NOOOOOOO YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO TRY AND EXPLAIN IT".
>>333888303
this fucking shit is what made me give up on mods back in the day
i cannot believe this was considered one of the best npc mods for YEARS
>>333885096
The only people who don't like sarcastic writing are shitbag MRAs. It actually takes brain power to understand sarcasm (identifying context, realising absurdity, initialize and use oppositional statement to highlight truth semiotic), and also the fact the only real response to MRA bullshit is sarcasm because they're so fecking backward.
>>333889080
>fecking
>not hecking
You had one job.
>>333888192
>>333888303
Jesus, is this what people obsessed with "choice and consequence" want? A plethora of meaningless options that probably won't be referenced ever again?
Having choices is cool and all, it helps roleplaying your character better, but it's even better when they actually matter. I bet all the dialogue after the first response he gives is the exact same too.
Why is it impossible to find CRPGs with actually good combat and character building? I tried DivOS but it has some of the most restrictive character building I've ever seen in an RPG, like the devs actively worked to remove cross-class synergies from the game.
All I want is a good murderhobo simulator.
>>333888534
The video is in reverse. He's actually getting out of the hole.
>>333889445
Any hybrids suck ass at the start of DivOS but they get way better later on as long as you don't spread too thin.
>>333889337
I bet you defend Telltale games.
It's good to know that the people obsessed with this archaic style of gameplay has their shit consistently ruined by the people who pioneered it in the first place.
Maybe it'll eventually disappear altogether.
Has anyone played the Torment: Tides of Numeria early access? I'm not sure if I should wait a while before picking it up.
>>333890343
It's good to know Obsidian didn't pioneer jack shit
>>333890343
>shit that only happens in my head
>>333890456
the gameplay and story is good enough but the engine is absolutely unoptimized.
brings my 980 to a crawl when there's a lot of particles and effects
>>333886335
DELETE THIS
RPGs are a dead genre, don't play anything released after 2000 to avoid wasting your time.
>>333885096
Anon it is poor form to kick a dev when they are down.
Only their most ardent supporters still hold out hope for Obsidian.
They will soon take their place on the Mt Rushmore of failed RPG studios.
The devs themselves deserved a better fate.
The fans get exactly what they deserve.
>>333890309
Nah, I dislike them for the same reason, actually. They give you lots of options for handling situations but things are always gonna end up one way or the other usually.
>>333885096
look everyone! he posted it again!
>>333885096
How many FUCKING times are we going to see this thread?
>>333893995
For eternity.
