Metro 2033/4 is/are fucking amazing, one of the most dramatic, immersive and cinematic games out there. And it's based on an equally good book, which I've read, gripping stuff IMO.
Stalker is also great, not played as much, but hell the game's still getting a fuckton of love all these years on, that's got to count for something. Also based on a book.
