What the shit is a "maybe" and a "bad camber"? I try looking this shit up but all I get is the definition of rally.
>>
>>333843704
When your codriver says 'jump maybe' he means that you might get airborne on that bump if you're going fast enough. Bad camber generally means the road is tilted in a way that makes controlling the car more difficult.

usually don't cut means that there is there is an obstacle on the inside of a turn like a giant cement block or a ditch or something. Normally you use the full road and you might skirt the outside of it but when they say don't cut you should try to stay reasonably close to the center

>>333850654
If you push the stick right, your wheels turn right. If you release the stick, the wheels will re-center themselves.
How much you push in a direction is the angle you'd give to the steering wheel, basically.

>>333849627

You should play this at least on a controller. Do not play on a keyboard, I mean while you can you will ultimately reach a point where you get frustrated with trying to handle the car on keyboard and reach a proverbial wall in trying to improve pace time.

Is anyone there willing to play an event?
Join the league:
https://www.dirtgame.com/uk/leagues/league/15874/ovgwrc

8 stages;
no restarts;
no repairs;
dumb weather so everyone can fall off the track have to and finish the event without a wheel or something;
80's cars (so everyone can pick glorious renault 5 turbo)

Starts now, ends in two weeks. Come, play, have fun, it'll be like in good old /v/ plays from early access when people were finishing tracks with multiple punctures.

also, i guess my concept of fun is incompatible with /ovg/ and therefore next events won't be this fun, just generic racey-servicey things

This really is amazing and just exemplifies why gaming is such an incredible medium. Once VR hits and we have technology to simulate the feel of being in a car driving over various terrain, you can have an experience that is almost literally identical to real life rally car driving at a fraction of the cost and no risk of damage to life or property.

Germany is by far the easiest, the forest stages are a bit challenging but the rest is really smooth sailing. The increased grip does make the handling more edgy, but the road surface and camber are so forgiving, the visibility is great and there are very few gotchas in the track layout
>>
>>333858067
Finland for all its jumps is actually a really strait forward track that lets you easily pick up speed. Germany is pretty forgiving. Sweden has support narrow roads but on the flip side, soft snow banks means it's actually hard to go off road.

It's cool to hate the legitimate badly written movies.
But no one I know has complained about the great design work and atmosphere of the prequels, and plenty of people love the games.

Yeah, even real rally drivers go off the road sometimes. That's why Don't Cut is a call in the first place. Cutting is possible on some turns.

What the fuck do engineers and shit actually do?
>>
>>333866635
Decrease the time in which it takes to repair shit. For instance if you are always breaking your wheels you would find an engineer that specialized in wheel repair. It's a dumb sub mechanic in my opinion, maybe it comes into play more later. I found that repairs always took 29 minutes when I had an hour so I never worried.
>>
>>333867030
Also you generally want maximum radiator repair anyway, most other parts are rather durable but that thing is apparently made out of fucking paper or something.

what is the point of shifting in rally games? aren't the turns too short to even get up to speed and then you have to downshift when you turn?

also what kind of shifters do they use? looks like they just smack a stick

it's sequential shifting

They have to shit out one F1 game per year since Bernie Eccelstone says so.

Also, they are not allowed to put in the feeder classes (GP2 and F3) because Eccelstone doesn't want that either, despite Codemasters wanting it since it would add way more content to the games.

>>

I thought sequential shifting would be bad in rally since they go from high speed to hairpin turns and stuff so quickly.

also would it be helpful to use my steam controller paddles for sequential shifting or just stick to automatic? what's the benefit?

The thing is, that the engine could handle a way better damage model, which some damage mods show. Maybe because it would make the game way too hard, but I would have liked a hardcore damage mode.

Cycling down gears on a sequential box helps the car slow down smoothly if you down-shift in the right rev ranges. You can downshift from 6th to 1st pretty fucking quickly too, way quicker than you actually need to.

Obtain skill.

But in all seriousness, you just get better over time. I got some good focused races at Monte Carlo during snowy races with my friends at our "Snow level videogame fest" this holiday and when I went to play singleplayer at it, I got 1st by over 20 seconds. I recommend being more careful and slowly working your way up to reckless rather than the other way around.

There's rally racing in GTAO?

I know that they made the Sultan RS a rally car through a mod shop but I didn't think there was off-road rally racing
>>
>>333877680
It's really just a regular race with the driver not knowing the route with the codriver being able to see it and tell the driver when to turn and whatnot.
>>
>>333877680
If you have friends you can find some user made Rally races.

Another way would be to create one yourself and locking it on only Sultan, and hosting it when you want to rally.

Futo is more fun and interesting for rally
