As 80s sexy-cute as the women of KC Mario are, the stories and OCDonutSteel bullshit is fucking terrible.

Childhood crush factor, just like old Daisy.

Because children nowdays instead of seeing them as mature woman they see those characters as sexual objects. Nintendo can't promote that behaviour in its name.

Stop sexualizing women.

I thought I was the only who autistically obsessed over the "forgotten" Mario characters

A lot of the gripes the Mario series gets about lack of diversity in gameplay, personalities, etc. could easily be solved by just bringing back some of the obscure characters.

>People complain about all the human characters in Mario Kart being white
Who are Tiny, Plum, Shokora, Lina, and Imajin

>People complain about all the enemy characters being turtles or generics that we see in every Mario game
Who are Tatanga, Pionpi, Cackletta, Fawful, Wart, or really any of the bosses or enemies from the Mario RPGs and Mario Bros. 2

>People complain about all the female characters being Princesses
Who are Pauline, Syrup, Goombella, Vivian, Mona, Ashley, Penny... really any girls from the Wario games work here too

>People complain about not having really eccentric or "out there" characters
Who are Carlton, Belome, Stanley, Princess Shroob, Grodus...

I'm also blown away that characters like E. Gadd have still never appeared in a Mario spinoff title as a playable character.

Also:
>3D Mario with Captain Syrup as the main star, adds swordfighting, swasbuckling, ship battles and thievery to a Mario Sunshine aesthetic and gameplay
>Wrecking Crew eShop title starring Foreman Spike who hires Wario and Waluigi as his new crew
>Dribble and Spitz "Crazy Taxi" game when?
>>
>>333826974
Wait... are those two different Paulines?! Deepest lore...

>>333827298
I miss old Daisy. It made sense having her a little darker considering her kingdom included Asian and Polynesian aesthetics.

>>333826745
I love that Syrup redesign. I just wish they hadn't made her into the generic "sexy thief girl" stereotype that's pretty common in Japanese media. Aren't half her lines things like "Ooohhh" and "Yeaahh, honey" to Wario? I would've preferred her actually sounding like a pirate and being a little more rough around the edges, like I pictured her being in the original Gameboy games

Top work, my man. The internet is for the sharing of knowledge after all.
>>
>>333831369
...sigh...

I still hold out hope that there are enough developers at Nintendo around my age who were raised on Nintendo that are willing to shift the focus away from Miyamoto's bullshit rhetoric.

Like, why can't ALL of the Nintendo's developers be like the guys that made Animal Crossing and Splatoon? That shit is actually fresh and unique.

Can you imagine if Super Mario Maker had the help of a team like theirs? It would have had twice the content, and probably included things like a Mario Land or SMB2 skin.

Miyamoto is just too old now. He's so out of touch. Look at Star Fox and that's all you need for evidence.
>>
>>333831965
>>333832096
Like I said, I don't do this shit normally, but when some other anon posted it, I was stunned to see that almost every KC Mario was in there. Only 12 and 40 are missing, and sadly, I don't have those in my stash. The artist is a hack writer, but I kinda wish he did some sort of ecchi manga or something. His girls are too cute and their perversions are too sexy to be wasted on a once-a-blue-moon gag in a mediocre mario fan-manga.

Man, shit like this, and actual first-hand experience I've had with it only makes Donkey Kong '94 that much better.
>>
>>333829607
>I thought I was the only who autistically obsessed over the "forgotten" Mario characters
You're not the only one, really. I've always mentioned whenever I could that using older characters would help satisfy certain traits that Mario games, including the spinoffs, could benefit from. It would also bring a little bit of familiarity from people who have played the older games. E.Gadd would make a great kart racer for example.

The main reason why you don't see a lot of people talk about lesser seen Mario characters often is because a lot of them are so obsessed with the words "relevant" and "canon" when it comes to Mario games now that they probably don't even know half of the characters that you listed.

NCL is run by old Japanese businessmen. They are going to do things the way they've done things for the past 30 years.

>New Super Mario sold well so let's make all Mario games look and feel like that

>Twilight Princess didn't meet expectations not because we delayed it for two years but clearly because fans aren't interested in a realistic Zelda. Let's keep playing with the formula and make the next Zelda a linear experience with no overworld. That's what people want.

>Wow, those baby characters in Mario Kart Wii must have been a fantastic addition because that game sold incredibly well. Let's put them in everything now.

>People loved Zero Suit Samus in Smash Bros. Let's make her the defacto interpretation of the character from now on.

>F-Zero and Star Fox did really poorly on Gamecube. NO reason to try again!

>Hey, Mario RPG, PM64 and Thousand Year Door were the best selling Mario RPGs of all time. Too bad Squeenix owns the rights to the first one and Super Paper Mario flopped. Sounds like we really shouldn't invest in recapturing what made the first three so great and instead just play with the formula until we get something we can produce cheaply and sell at a high mark up.

>Oh, all those IPs we made for the NES, GB, SNES, N64, GCN, Wii, DS, GBA... like Advance Wars, StarTropics, and Mach Rider? Yeah, those are garbage. Just look at how poorly Codename Steam sold. Had NOTHING to do with our marketing or the fact that we just don't want to take risks anymore. We'll NEVER reinvent those franchises. Kid Icarus was lightning in a bottle and we'll never touch a sequel to that series again either. Sorry!
>>
>>333832886
>defending codename steam
It's shit.
>>
>>333832816
You and I must be unique then, anon. I have a handful of ideas I've jotted down over the years to try and "update" the Mario series. Not just the three ideas I posted earlier, but even simpler things like a "dream roster" for Mario Kart that tries to include as much diversity as possible.

Again: games like Captain Toad and even Wario Ware were a step in the right direction. I wish they would have kept up momentum there.
>>
>>333824138
More like because they are from Warios game zo what would be the point

>>

>captain toad
>right direction
No.
>>
>>333833146
In terms of using characters from the Mario franchise to create different experiences? Absolutely.

Don't tell me you would have preferred that to be an actual Zelda title like they originally planned.
>>
>>333832886
>Twilight Princess didn't meet expectations not because we delayed it for two years but clearly because fans aren't interested in a realistic Zelda
I'm not sure what makes you think this conversation ever happened considering Twilight Princess was the best-selling Zelda game of all time before OoT got all of those re-releases.

F-Zero also never got a follow-up after GX because the Sega team that made GX (Amusement Vision) literally stopped existing in 2004, and Nintendo likely knew they weren't going to meet the standard of quality they set.
>>
>>333833061
At the moment, I think the best dream team roster for any gametype is to have all of the characters that were once playable in the gametype in question be playable. For example, have all of the characters once playable in a Kart game be playable. From there, any additions would be welcome without much concern. I never understood the desire for cuts like I've seen from some people.

I don't know if they'll continue the momentum. I want to give the benefit of the doubt that it would pick up again with NX, but I'm not holding much hope. The last Wario game was back in 2008 and we haven't seen anything like it since, not even for 3DS. They seem to be playing way too safe.

Umm, guys?

What is Mario doing behind that G&W? Notice Wario's expression.
>>
>>333833730
And Wario has a LOT of really obscure titles under his belt too, or at least games headed in that direction as the years go on:
>Wario's Woods (they kept putting the NES version on VC, but ignore the SNES version completely)
>VB Wario Land
>Wario Blast
>Wario World
>Wario Master of Disguise
>Mario and Wario

You could also make the argument that the only reason people remember any Wario Land titles existing (especially II and III) is because Wario Land 4 is touted as "top tier" and Shake It is still in recent memory

Also can't forget all the Wario Ware games that faded as quickly as they came out: DIY and Mega Party Games. Game & Wario would join them soon if it weren't a pretty common free download Wii U title.

>>333837483
Yeah, Syrup was in the 3 games, two as the main villain and one as a supporting character. It's kind of funny that she has the most roles in the Wario platformers out of all the villains. Land III had Rudy the Clown and 4 had the Golden Diva. World IIRC was just an evil jewel and Master of Disguise was Count Cannoli and Terrormisu.

Wario games are known for just adding weird as shit one-off villains. The only other villain beside Syrup to appear in a second title was Rudy, who was a playable character in Dr. Mario 64.

>>333839034
You know it in your heart, anon
>>
>>333839664
>Wario games are known for just adding weird as shit one-off villains.

Probably to justify Wario's crude methods in later games. Wario bodyslams and chucks shit with the force of a rail gun, the player would feel less guilty when the creatures on the receiving end of that kind of punishment.

Who wouldn't want to smack a demon clown in the face?
