I've played a bunch of them via emulation but I've never beaten one without resorting to cheats. I wish I could and at their basic level, a lot of them are fun, but damn son, that shit is hard.

I agree. SNES are hard too but at least there's less bad games with good controls. with the NES there is just so much bad quality things that you have to adjust for that you shouldn't have to.
