ITT: "fuck you, i liked it"
the game, or the last boss?
>>333773864
both
Fuck you that was one of the worst moments I've ever played through in a game.
Top tier game though.
Drakengard 3wasn't fucked up enough
>>333773738
>I'm full of shit: the post
Drakengard 1? Borrowed way too heavily from Dynasty Warriors, but actually had interesting components like the Dragon riding and being able to MURDER CHILDREN
Drakengard 2 wasn't made by the same guy but was pretty shit
Drakengard 3 was it's own kind of garbage.
>>333773738
This boss was fucking easy though, it was just listening to the rhythm, watching the rings and the trolling visuals in general is what throws you off. You just don't watch, you listen. That delayed, last ring though was a dick move that guarantees you never succeed on your first try though.
Fell in love with Three after playing her DLC
I liked Drakengard 3, but that final boss was bullshit on so many levels. I don't mind that it was a complete genre shift. I do mind that it was such a poorly done genre shift.
>action game is now a rhythm game
>rhythm doesn't even matter
>actually a QTE boss fight
>camera constantly zooming in and out
>can't always see both prompts and indicators at the same time due to camera movements
>hitting the beats doesn't actually matter
>7 FUCKING MINUTE SONG
>CAN'T MISS A SINGLE INPUT
>STEALTH MOTHERFUCKING INPUT AT THE VERY END
Fuck you, Taro. Just fuck you.
>>333777004
>rhythm doesn't even matter
>>333777210
It doesn't. The proper button presses don't even match the music.
>>333773738
This was the biggest surprise in my gaming history because of the sudden genre shift. One was kicking my shit in but i got lucky when the AI derped.
>oh shit, it's going to be the final boss of the game. Better stock up on those recoveries
>KUROI HANA
Then i proceed to get my ass handled for the next hour or so.Still haven't beaten this stage/boss
>>333775965
But how am I supposed to do that when I don't have any knowledge about music? The notes need to be hit a few seconds after the note is played and that completely throws me off, at least that's what it seems like to me.
I just can't get the hang of it, farthest I've gotten is 4 Intoner petals in, including the starting Zero one..
>>333774993
>>333775193
>Drakengard 3 wasn't fucked up enough
This. Never pander to waifufaggots.
>runs at 15 FPS
>loads of expensive DLC
>it's okay though, it's Taro
I wonder what protects him from having to face real failures instead of imagined ones like "I didn't push the boundaries of games enough, they are still video games, sorry guys."
>>333778364
Have you never played Drakengard 1?
>>333778364
>>333778468
I had to look up a youtube video to see when to time the hits and sync it to the game in order to beat the boss. I'm not terrible at rhythm games, but this one is just bad by design.
>>333773738
>>333779097Haven't got to grinding all the weapons yet
>>333779150
>>333779129
I considered that, but I wouldn't get any satisfaction from winning that way.
Even if I'm not capable of beating it legitimately.I suck at rhythm games
>>333779129
It's funny how /v/ said Drakengard 3 was a good game despite its technical flaws. People eat up the 15fps meme because lul story is so wacky and dark but having 15fps in a fucking rhythm game is not acceptable. Like this guy have said here >>333778913
>it's okay though, it's Taro
Hell, even drakengard 1 had better frame rate for both.
>>333779658
I just want the design and performance issues to be addressed in future titles, if there are any. I don't think it's right to coast on philosophy.
>>333774993
>wasn't fucked up enough
>posts DMC, the bluntest "edgy" game there was
I liked it too
>>333779316
>>333781183
DmC wasn't edgy, just semi-serious
Have you played it?
>>333781035
I believe Taro had a bigger budget to work with for Drakengard 1 thus it performs andlooks. Whatever it is, the next game should step it up on the technical or the story department.
>>333781776
You're right. DmC wasn't edgy, it was hilarious. You may say it wasshakespearean
>>333779198You don't need to grind the weapons in Drakengard 1 to get Ending E. You just need to collect all of them
How fucked will Nier 2's final boss/ending be?
Racing game?
Fighting game?
Delete your PSN account and brick your ps4?
Permanently corrupting your game and replacing all the English with Scrawl-esque runes and gibberish?
>>333781776
What about the assault rifle assisted abortion?
The game is fun.
But fuck you, that last boss is ass.
>>333782429
>Permanently corrupting your game and replacing all the English with Scrawl-esque runes and gibberish?
Funny thing is, all the runes in the Drakengard games are based on a real-life ancient alphabet.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celestial_Alphabet
I always hear praise for this series and especially Nier on /v/. What's the deal?
From my very limited knowledge, you have to beat Nier like four fucking times to even get the part that people are all emotional over. How the fuck does anyone beat it four times when all you people do is bitch about the actual gameplay? Are you not playing the game for, y'know, the GAMEPLAY?
What the fuck is the deal.
>>333774993
My name is Zero, the Intoner hunter.
Has a nice ring to it, don't ya think?
>>333774993
I think it was plenty fucked up, but didn't take itself seriously enough
>>333782236
I honestly agree with this
>>333782450
Completely justified.
>allowing the literal spawn of satan to survive, the heir in waiting to the slavemaster of humanity
>when it's so nightmarishly powerful as a baby that it is its own boss
>>333782661
I like the gameplay...
>>333782661
Drakengard games are bad in objective gameplay terms, but when you put the music, story, and atmosphere into it it becomes something special
Nier took the gameplay from bad to passable, and everything else went up a notch with it
Genuinely fantastic game, desu.
>>333782109
I actually used to go back to it every now and then, since I was hurt for being a Lucas and Snake main.
>>333782392
Well there goes my 31 hours of grinding. Least the framerate is butter smooth, time to slog through the rest.
>>333782661
Top tier music.
Interesting world.
Good story.
Characters are likeable enough. Sort of.
The gameplay isn't as bad as people say.
Sidequests have their own nice stories.
And you only have to go through half the game multiple times, which is extremely easy and relatively quick because you'll end up overlevelled by then.
How long is nier, how many times do I have to play it to "get" what you talk about all the time, and do I have to play other games before it to understand what's going on?
>>333782661
The gameplay isn't really bad, it just gets a bit repetitive after a while. Also, you don't have to play through the whole game four times, as the game skips the first half in New Game +, and you can just tear through everything due to how strong you are during the New Game + playthroughs.
>>333783060
That looks impressive, but it's literally just you mashing square. That webm is misleading. At least post some actual cool shit from TLoU's multiplayer or something.
>>333782429
I hope you are good at 2HU bullet hell games.
>>333782661
It's not a 1:1 replay though.
You get dropped at especific in each branch, and while you revisit old locations, the story and enemy placement is different.
>>333782429
The main character sprouts dozens of arms/legs in preparation for a DDR dance off that uses all possible button combinations on the controller.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUydx57te9s
>>333782661Nier was inspired by the events of 9/11.Can't remember if the drakengard games were inspired by real life events too.
>>333783186
It's quite short and you should be good with two plays, watch the rest on youtube.I honestly think the second round is kind of shit and too depressing so I didn't finish it.
>>333783427
Hey Dante, what are you doing over there.
>>333783285
How's this, you fuckingrude guy?
>>333783561
I read in the novels and extra material that the events of Drakengard are based onur mom.
>>333783186
>How long is nier
I went out of my way to do all the side-quests and stuff, and I think I got 40 or 50 hours out of the game. It's much faster if you just focus on the main objective, but some of the side-quests have narrative content that make them worth doing.
>how many times do I have to play it to "get" what you talk about all the time,
1 and a half times. After you beat the game, the game skips it's first half, but New Game + has extra content. It's up to you whether you want to get endings C or D, those don't have that much extra content in them.
>and do I have to play other games before it to understand what's going on?
All you need to know is that at the end of the PS2 game DrakengardThe final boss of that game gets transported via inter-dimensional portal from the medieval fantasy world that game takes place in, to modern day Tokyo. The final battle is fought there, and the final boss disintegrates into magical, disease-causing dust, fucking up the whole world.
>>333783296
Doesn't Platinum love to throw shmup bits into their games? Or is that another company I'm thinking of?
>>333773738
I like it thematically. Mikhail is basically forced to kill his mother, it shouldn't be a pleasant experience.
That said the section makes me want to fucking kill everyone on the dev team and listening to the music triggers me.
>>333784001
Quality post anon.
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/03/20/nier-drakengard-creator-says-nier-inspired-9-11/
>>333778913
It's a PS3 game, that's a given.
>tfw servers are dead

>>333783846
>mash square
>your invincible AI ally saves you
>continue mashing square
dark souls 2
in fact, i fucking loved it
but seriously fuck the level design
>>333784230
You're not wrong anon but no, this game goes beyond that.
>>333784391
>press buttons
>press more buttons
>win game
2 was also decent. Really wish they kept it up with different types of games instead of just poker, but gotta get that Minecraft money bunch of assholes...
>I fall for the Drakengard 3 meme
>>333773738
Drakengard as a whole is both a failure as a work of fiction and more importantly a failure of a video game. It's grade A garbage
And the general concept of what it tries to do isn't flawed either, since Nier is acceptable
>>333784436
I had no problems with it until
>shrine of azura
After that abomination the throne of want was smooth sailingbut i've never played DeS, DaS or Bloodborne, so I guess I wouldn't know
>>333785420
What constitutes a failure as a work of fiction?
>>333785823
dude if you play dark souls youll be blown the fuck away
>>333784245
>They were never alive in the first place
>>333784245
Those faces still freak me out. Like, everything else looks pretty realistic, but then horse faces
>>333783087
dude you fucked up bad
why the fuck wouldn't you read about that shit before hand?
and I don't mean reading a single link from fucking gamefaqs or something. Why didn't you research that shit before spending so much time on it?
Jesus.
>>333786857
Because fuck spoilers and shit. It's not so bad anyway, i kinda enjoy the dynasty warriors-esque gameplay.
>>333773738
One of the best bosses in years. It was challenging but mostly fair, with only the very end being cheap. But after you lose to the final note once you know when it's coming. Should be no problem after that. The entire fight, from the visuals to the song to the context it is in, is beautiful.
>>333787167
What spoilers? If you know that you needed to collect every single weapon for the final ending, then you must have looked that up somewhere to begin with, right?
Also, there's nothing even spoilerish from looking that info up that you don't already know.
>>333783060
If only most of the game was like this...
Fucking clicker stealth shit.
>>333779150
>Fuck you I liked it
>Destiny
Oh man, you're so unique and original, You actually liked that game that only 15million other people bought?
You go man! You fight the system!
What's with this 15 fps meme? I platinumed the game and it only dropped rarely, and never for very long. The game was at 30 the vast majority of the time.
>>333785420
Drakengard 1 has better writing than Nier
Completely serious, but I do hold them equal for various reasons
>>333787705
>Drakengard 1 has better writing than Nier
>Completely serious
Doesn't matter how serious you are, you're wrong.
>>333787817
Nah. At least Drakengard had the good sense to make each of its different routes count for something instead of being glorified footnotes.
You can easily file Nier down into one ending since they hardly distinguish from one another. Not to mention the protagonist in Drakengard is much more well-established. They fucked themselves bouncing between Brother/Dad Nier
>>333773738
OK. I'll bite
>Halo 5
>BioShock Infinite
>The Last of Us
>Uncharted 3
>Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (favorite one to be exact)
>GTA V
>Twilight Princess
>Phantom Hourglass
Shall I continue?
>>333775965
>You just don't watch, you listen
You seem to not realize that the timing of the notes actually changes speed for different songs, and that the last 2 notes don't have an audio or visual clue as to when they are released. If you say this song is easy, then you don't seem like you actually played it. Also, one failure and game over is something that I've never seen in a rhythm game before, so I would say it is harder than an average rhythm game. Albeit I don't really play many rhythm games.
>>333787515
I misread the information on the ending requirements but never bothered looking up because the gameplay never felt like a chore to me. On the note on spoilers, I have a tendency to avoid exposure to the internet when going through the game due to the fear of spoilers. I remember having the major point of the story ruined for me when i googled up deadly premonition wiki.
>>333788159
The amount of time between the chime of the note being shot out and when you have to press the button remains the same for entire song until the very end when it starts to slow down. And even then as long as you follow the song's rhythm you can work out the timing for everything but the last note.
>>333787678
Shhh, you'll trigger the people who never played the game but still shit on it.
>>333787678
>what is hyperbole?
>>333788592
It rarely drops at all though. Might as well say every game runs at 15 fps because almost all have framerate drops.
>>333788383
As someone who manually created a script to beat the game with my own custom times, they are far from being the same. They may be close enough that you wouldn't generally notice, but they do differ by a fair enough margin to notice it without even getting into fine measurements.
>for everything but the last note
There are actually 3 hidden notes in the end with no audio/visual cues. Even worse, the first 2 are grouped together so it should be impossible to beat the ending without help. An impossible fight without help doesn't sound easy to me.
>>333787705
Drakengard 1 is trash
>>333788907
It didn't really bother me much but I had it drop more than rarely. I would suspect your PS3 model could have a little bit to do with your experience. I had a day 1 PS3, how about you?
>>333787678
It is not hyperbolic.
15 fps average is generous.
The worst rhythm game alive is all I've left to do in LOL SEX XD the game and it frequently dips into single digit framerate with multiple enemies, paired with UE3's shit texture loading, it's the only thing worse than Deadly Premonition I can think of in recent memory
>>333789127
Give script pls
>>333773738
It is beyond me why I loved this game so much, but god damn I had fun with it.
