It's very similar. You play as ellie so you can't really confront enemies so stealth is more important and you can get enemies to fight each other which is pretty neat. No, this scene is everything that is wrong with modern "inclusive vidya charcaters".
Compare the previous game character in the game: Bill
A kind of stereotypical survivalist in a zombie apocalypse type character, but effective and interestinf enough to hold his little level. Has his own littel subplot and doesn't go too far in his sxuality.
Now take Riley: A boring mary sue, who only real characteristic is that she is a likable friend of Ellie's. Nothing interesting about her character. No moral tormoil, just a straight up "Care about this character, because we are going to kill her by the end of this, and you know it" situation.
Compared with the other character that go through morally questionable situations that play with the concept of "How far is one whiling to go for survival" and "what really matters to you once the easyness of modern life goes away" and other zombie fiction cliches, noticable specially with Joel, Riley is just a wet fart of character. Fully stereotypical for maximum "LIKE ME PLEASE!!!" factor.
