In souls game there's so many fuckups, that sometimes you cant figure wchich item you must use to do something, because names doesnt match for example darkmoon ring translated to ring of the dancing moonlight. Many poeple have problems with reaching peacefully gwyndolin because of this

Just started this game, been grinding echoes for a bit now and almost killed papa Gascoine or however you spell it. Is there an easier way to go about this or am i doing the right thing by just throwing myself at the enemies while dodging over and over until I over level the bosses?

Learn to do the stagger shot the messenger notes tell you about. It makes Gas ez, but will be torture mastering it.
