Why the fuck is this 30FPS?

Why the fuck is this 30FPS?
>>
Insomniac actually wrote some article a while back how 60fps wasn't "worth it" and they'd never do it again.

What were you expecting?
>>
Because more people care about graphics and Insomniac didn't think it was worth the time.
>>
They've been 30fps since ACIT, the best game in the series (with GC and UYA a close second and third).

You're late as fuck.
>>
You wouldn't even notice the difference.
>>
>>333746960
You mean after, ACiT was still 30fps.
>>
Don't care, hyped as fuck.
>>
Solid 30 FPS does not change the gameplay experience. Most humans can't tell the difference past that point but act like having more FPS makes them superior. Same people that shop at whole foods, are gluten free, believe global warming is the highest priority and that gun manufacturers are responsible for shootings and not the psychopath behind the trigger
>>
>literally open about 'not wanting to do 60fps'

I hear autism makes people highly sensitive to framerate
>>
Ratchet and Clank threads used to be some of the only good ones on this shit board. Shame.

This is why

Taking over this shit thread.

RATCHET AND CLANK GENERAL

Should I get the PS3 port of Deadlocked or just find a copy for PS2? I heard the PS3 port was kinda bad but in trivial ways.

It's okay. The biggest issue about the PS3 ports of the PS2 Ratchet is that they can't emulate everything 1.1 but it you can put up with it it's just okay like I said.
>>
>>333746661
Because console. Buy it for the PC if you want 60 feets per second.
>>
>>333748216

Why not just avoid Deadlocked?

The original PS2 trilogy is all that has ever mattered, same with Jak.
>>
>>333748216
Was playing the PS3 version today, cutscenes are a bit janky, don't know if gameplay is affected, but I didn't notice anything.
>>
Because unfortunately they care a lot more about graphical fidelity than a good framerate. Damn shame, I loved A Crack In Time and it seems like every R&C afterwards has been inferior by comparison. Maybe this new game will be better, but who knows. Honestly I'm more hopeful for how the second/third games will turn out, those are usually a lot better, at least if the previous gens are anything to go by. The first game suffers from console launch/new engine syndrome.
>>
>>333748645
Deadlocked is a good ass game

oh look another thread where sonyponies defend a downgrade from a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GAME
>>
>>333747531
No, it wasn't. It was an unlocked 60fps that ran close to 30fps most of the time.
>>
>>333748446
I only experienced a couple issues with the ports of Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal. One time in GC I was on my way to fight the giant robot boss and the model of the boss just stood stationary and the battle wouldn't start so I had to reset.

And in UYA there were some sync issues with cutscenes but nothing major.

If Deadlocked only has those kinds of issues then I can tolerate it.
>>
>>333746661
Who the fuck cares? Play the game and enjoy it.
It's not like it's noticeably freezing every few seconds.
>>
>>333748847
>defend
we're just saying it's pretty obvious considering the devs said they wouldn't do 60fps again

I personally stopped buying games from them
>>
>>333746661
We had a +500 replies thread that got shitted by the 30fps is unplayable meme, and you still want more of it?
>>
The fact that it isn't 60fps is a huge bummer, especially considering how much Insomniac used to strive for it. That said, Into the Nexus was perfectly playable and this will be too.
>>
Because the market doesn't give a shit.
http://www.insomniacgames.com/how-much-does-framerate-matter/

But the main points they said were:
>Framerate is important, but not critically so. When there is a clear choice between framerate and improved graphics, graphics should win. The correlation with review scores is clear.

>There is virtually no advantage in sales or reviews of a 60 fps game versus a 30 fps game.

>Only a minority of players notice framerate as a significant issue of any kind.
>>
>>333746661
Don't you know, it's literally okay when Sony does it. This is SonyGAF, after all.

Why isn't the Ratchet and Clank fanbase as autistic as other anthropomorphized series like Sonic or Star Fox's fanbase?
>>
Because consolefags don't care about performance so the devs aren't going to waste time on making the game run well and consoles also don't give you any options so you're stuck with shit performance.
>>

I was going to try and plat but some of the skill points seemed glitched
>>
>>333751904
It is, especially since it's almost never stable. It's playable if it's stable but it's still not very good. Especially when a dev that traditionally was doing 60 fps decides they don't care enough anymore and stops optimizing their games well like what's happening here.
>>
>>333751904
>it's okay when playstation does it
Sonyggers everyone.

Feels like less anthro more everyone is just an alien. I dunno, I don't think Crash or Spyro had insane fanbases either.

>Most humans can't tell the difference past that point
Terrible bait, but i'm still going to reply as if it isn't. Anyone who says they can't tell the difference between 30 and 60fps hasn't actually seen 60fps.
>>
>>333746661

PC master race here.

30fps is fine for this game as long as it stays at 30fps.

>Framerate should be as consistent as possible and should never interfere with the game. However, a drop in framerate is interestingly seen by some players as a reward for creating or forcing a complex setup in which a lot of things must happen on the screen at once. As in, “Damn! Did you see that? That was crazy!”

No. Just no. Making your game lag is not a "reward" for fucking anything other than being incompetent or overambitious. Having big impressive scenes that DON'T lag is impressive.
>>
>>333746661
the game doesn't need 60 fps
it's slow as fuck and you can dodge bullets
>>
I'm so glad I don't work wednesday, gonna pick this up tuesday night and play all the next day. I have a feeling this thing is gonna be a huge seller for insomniac, especially at $40. Hopefully that'll lead to more

>same day as DS3
>only 2 weeks before Uncharted 4
>>
>>333753290
This basically. I've watched plenty of gameplay footage already and never thought it looked laggy at all. I'd take better graphics/textures at 30fps than have it look like shit at 60, but that's just my personal opinion, I'm sure plenty of people think the opposite
>>
>>333753549
True, I'm sure it's not going to be an extremely long game though, I figure I'll have beaten it and done most of the fun stuff by the time U4 comes out
>>
>>333753453

Courtney will probably cameo in the movie/game. Nearly every other charter has a cameo in them.

I know about it, but there's no fucking excuse for slowdown with modern hardware. Devs aren't anything near restricted by the hardware in any aspect of gaming other than graphics. If you cram so many superfluous shaders and godrays and SSAO and tesellation and all that other bullshit to the point that you can't create a large-scale scene without slowdown, then your studio is incompetent.

You're advocating for devs to either not bother to optimize their engines, or overreach to ridiculous amounts of models/actors.

But you called me a PCuck, now I know you're not discussing this with any degree of legitimacy so, let's see what your next shitpost is!
