What are some franchises that got progressively worse with each sequel? I'll start with the obvious.
>>
Metroid Prime
Mega Man X
Spyro
>>
All of them
>>
>>333737623
try splinter cell
>>
City was better than asylum.
>>
>>333738147
Chaos Theory was the best one
>>
>>333738216
it also wasnt the first one
>>
>>333738204
No it wasn't. Unfocused mess, rehashed Joker and Bane again and led the series down the shit path of open world design. Asylum was great because it was focused.
>>
>>333737202
Dead Space
>>
>>333738204
>no Scarecrow
>boss fights were even worse
>muh sandbox
>even more game breaking weapons and upgrades

Lol no
>>
Fable
Mass Effect
>>
>>333738625

Mr. Freeze was the best boss fight in the entire series.
>>
>>333738430

>comic book game
>complaining about characters returning
>>
>>333738863
>boss fight is literally just a beta room that has you use each gadget once
Yeah no
>>
souls
>>
Fuck you, Origins' Christmas setting was the tits and the story was actually decently written and flowed.
>>
>>333738430
>>333738625
>open world is bad because I say so
It's Batman, why wouldn't it be open world?
Every area in the game was "focused" and more linear like in Asylum, except with better level design. You're bitching because there happened to be an open world in between those areas.
>>
>>333737202
City was probably better than Asylum though.

No idea about Knight. Did anyone ever actually beat it or is still a mess?
>>
>>333738204
>>333738430
>>333738625

City was an unfocused mess indeed.

Batman shouldn't be that open. Give me a bat cave, and missions I can run based on priorities/triage. Let me actually investigate, and based on that investigation, approach the mission as I see fit.

Arkham knight was just "under the red hood". It's not a Fucking twist to just turn the red hood into the "Arkham knight". Unforgivable shit.

I can't see a reason why they didn't do the Court of Owls story arch, apart from maybe it was published mid development. It's a damn shame.
>>
>>333738976

>a boss that requires you to use everything in your arsenal to beat him
>compared to bosses who require spamming one gadget to win

Freeze was the best boss fight, anon.
>>
>>333739553
Should I read Scott Snyder's Batman stuff? I've heard it was pretty good
>>
>>333739553
I love how they tried to hide it so much during interviews

"Arkham Knight is his own unique character"
"It's nothing you've seen before"

Yeah fucking right.

Basically, games like these cap out at 2.

Uncharted 2.
Assassins Creed 2.
Batman: Arkham City (although you could make a strong argument that Arkham asylum is better because it's more focused)

You add more, and focus on what was good while removing what was bad. Then the third one is almost always just a shitty rehash.
>>
>>333739553
>unfocused mess indeed
Buzzwords.
You're complaining that the game wasn't linear enough, despite the fact that all the areas weren't as open, the only this that was open was the hub world.

>Batman shouldn't be that open. Give me a bat cave, and missions I can run based on priorities/triage. Let me actually investigate, and based on that investigation, approach the mission as I see fit.
Asylum was nothing like this, so what is your point?
>>
>>333737202
Assassin's Creed after II.
>>
>>333739792
Read it if you want but it's pretty average
>>
>>333738204
I think you meant "bigger".

Banjo-Tooie was bigger than Banjo-Kazooie, and Banjo-Kazooie was better.
>>
>>333740229
I've read most of the major canonized Batman stuff and BvS put me in the mood for something new, is Black Mirror any good?
>>
>>333740624
Yeah, that's the only Batman comic by Snyder that I really liked.
>>
>>333739357
I beat it on xbone, although the batmobile was a nice change, I would still stick with city. When challenge maps were finally added, it didn't fix the fact that it was not included in the first fucking place.
>>
>>333740916
Cool I'll check it out. Any other recommendations, even non-Batman? I've been on a comics kick all year
>>
>>333741032
For Batman
>Grant Morrison's run
This starts with Batman and son and ends with Batman Inc. It's pretty good.
>Batman Year 100

Non Batman
>Hellboy
>Judge Dredd
Start with casefiles #1
>Punisher MAX
>Fury MAX: My war gone by
>Ronin
Not sure what you're really looking for but that's what I recommend.
>>
>>333739357
It's skippable. I played it on PC, doesn't quite feel like an Arkham game to me, for some reason. Feels more action-y. Plus there are no boss fights, besides Riddler after you get all the trophies, and that fight is laughable.
>>
>>333742147
I forgot to say it's still a bad port. Needs work, but you can play through it for sure.
>>
What is the best Arkham game?

Arkham Origins

Asylum

Knight

The Arkham games got better gameplay wise every game but worse in terms of level design

I've read Hellboy (Mignola is one of my favorite artists, love that dude) and Punisher Max but I'll have to check out Morrison's Batman , thanks bro.

My reccommendation to you is to read something by Warren Ellis.
>>
City > Knight > Asylum > Origins
>>
>>333739357
I liked it, I still think Asylum is the best though.
>>
>>333743701
Swap Asylum and Knight and we're good
>>
>>333738204
I'll take normalshit opinions for 500.

You just can't appreciate what made Asylum excellent, that's why you prefer City. You're the equivalent of a fat retard shoveling hamburgers into your face while some one near you eats a medium-rare steak.

I loved the fuck out of Asylum and bought City the moment I finished it. When I played City I had to force myself to beat it. I haven't even started Origins cause I've heard it's pretty bad.

The openworld made it worse.

I know this is bait, but I'm genuinely troubled by the mere concept of somebody having taste this poor.

Harley's ass in Arkham knight says otherwise.
>>
>>333744661
Origins is the best one.
>>
>>333744121
You couldn't sound fatter
>>
>>333744661
I'm in the exact same position. Asylum was a well-designed game with a Metroidvania feel, whereas Arkham City felt like the kind of designed-by-committee open-world tripe that Ubisoft would shit out. Catwoman's ass made it worthwhile, though.
>>
Ninja Gaiden NES trilogy
>>
>>333743116
I liked City because it showed off more villains like Mad Hatter and Mr. Freeze. But it loses points for no Scarecrow. So it balances out to be about even.
>>
Mario kart
>>
>>333745651
City had the best asses.
>>
>>333743701
swap asylum and city familia

>>333743863

>>
>>333746081
Super Mario Kart was shit.
>>
>>333746741
I hated Double Dash with a passion when I first tried it.

The Wii game was pretty bad for me too. Mario Kart Super Circuit was the only iteration I played for hours,
>>
I unironically enjoyed Origins
>>
>>333745651
Exactly. The Riddler trophies were fun to get in Asylum too, whereas in City I got put off cause they were literally everywhere.
The asses are one of the best things to come out of the series.
>>
CoD post-Modern Warfare.
>>
The Spec Ops series.
>>
>>333747226
Origins is fun familia, just poorly made. the game was buggy as fuck and they said "nah we're going to make DLC instead"
>>
>>333743552
Not that anon but I'd also recommend Superman: Red Son.
>>
>>333745709
Double Dragon too
>>
>>333747915
I've heard a lot about that. I'll check that out too, thanks dude.

Any recommends you're looking for?
>>
Origins is so underrated and gets way too much shit just because it's City 1.5
It was still a damn fine game
>>
>>333739071

This fucker knows where its at. Origins is the only one I've replayed twice and actually enjoyed; the story and pacing was great and it actually had a unique tone compared to the others.

Batman also felt fun; rushed to track down the assassins, feeling vulnerable but a lot more violent and aggressive.

It was actually a really cinematic experience. First time meeting Joker + lead up, and the final confrontation in the chapel are unforgettable
>>
>>333748412
It gets shit because it was buggy and broken and the devs abandoned it with several game breaking bugs still there. It was a fun game though.
>>
>>333748412
>damn fine game
>gamebreaking bugs around every corner
>Roger Craig Smith's shitty Batman voice
>shitty story with nothing really fun to substantiate it
>>
>batman
>worse

just fuck off. arkahm knight is fucking great, only PCcucks cant face it, because they cant play
>>
>>333748649
>>Roger Craig Smith's shitty Batman voice
>>shitty story with nothing really fun to substantiate it
Both of these are wrong.
>>
>>333748412
>game crashing bugs
>save files bugs
>other bugs
>filler game
>Corey May
>B-team dev
>imitation voiceactors
>Joker shoehorned in for marketing
>DLC focused
>abandoned after launch by developer

It was a cash-in title released to Assassin's Creed the series and was completely designed in every aspect and decision around making money for WB. They went with the Arkham games because they have a built in audience, they chose Corey May to write because he's cheap, they chose Roger Craig Smith for the same reason, they put in Joker because having him in is the financially safe decision, they lazily pieced together a game around what was given to them by Rocksteady, they left it after launch because at that point their money had been made and there was no point getting employees to fix things, and they even grudgingly published their promised DLC months later than they had planned to because they devoted so little of their team to it.
It is the definition of shovelware and the only reason it doesn't fully fit is because it establishes itself enough on the good core that was given to them by Rocksteady that it's at least built around a decent system and uses a quality engine.

And then of course it completely sets itself outside of anything that could resemble and Arkhamverse timeline.
>>
>>333748946
Both of these are right.
>>
>>333749157
Nope.
>>
>>333749223
Yup.
>>
Asylum>Origins>City>Knight
Origins is so painfully under-appreciated

coolest Batsuit IMO
>>
Copperhead was cool. Too bad no one did anything else with her. Was she ever in the comics? I heard she was supposed to be but New 52 is so off the rails who even cares now

People (rightfully) shit on Origins because it had literally gamebreaking bugs at launch and they weren't fixed immediately in favor of working on DLC. However, in CURRENT YEAR, it's very much playable. I really dig the backstory given to Banes downspiral in the Arkham-verse and I thought the new VAs were pretty solid. Also, best batsuit.
>>
>>333738430
>Bane again
Bane was in a side mission that was easy as fuck to miss.
What are you talking about?
>>
>>333749480
So every Batman related thing is 100% obligated to always have Joker in it?
>>
>>333748904
>Shitty story
>Constant shitty forced Batmobile sections
>Casualised predator sections with FEAR takedowns
>>
>>333750032
I like the Christmas setting as well. Also Origins Freeze DLC was fun.
>>
>>333749480
There are so many other great Batman villians that they could use or focus on. WB just shoehorns the Joker into everything because theyre after the normie dollar.
>>
>>333750032
Bane and the Mr. Freeze DLC were literally the only good things about Origins
>>
Is Arkham Asylum the greatest 3D (as in 3D movement) metroidvania ever made?
>>
city is objectively the better game
