AFAIK, you can only pay for loot boxes. Some boxes also contain currency, and that currency can be used to purchase skins/emotes/sprays/etc of your choice. But the loot boxes also contain random other things depending on rarity. However on top of this, each level you gain, you get a box. There is no level cap, and the XP caps at 22,000 so far. Each win per day grants an additional 1500XP. So basically, you should be able to get loot boxes at a regular pace without spending a dime on them.
So think of the Hearthstone model basically.
