How so? l mean, l know it is but it barely had anything related to the first one asides a level/boss here and there. It wasn't a full remake.

Doing this is cheaper than making a good game.

It was a remake. The point is, propping up 64 as an example of innovation just exposes that you haven't played the first game. The changes from the original to 64 are about as significant as the changes from 64 to Zero.

But it is innovative. Don't you like the idea of having to divide your attention between two screens to play the game now?

I think Bosman made a good point in one of his vids - there's no 'wow' factor to this gen.

Previous console upgrades were like "you can do THIS because of the new system" but now it's more like "you can do the SAME THING with the new system but with BETTER GRAPHICS".

I hope that it takes full advantage of wacky gamepad stuff, or using the Wii U processing power to show us interesting scenarios and fresh mechanics. Otherwise why would you move on from the original? There's already a 3DS remake.

They push this stuff because it sells anon. That's literally all there is to it. They may not sell that many consoles, but this software still generally sells in the millions. Even NSMBU broke 5 million, most publishers would kill for even 2 million.

Why in the world would they stop this when a decent amount of consumers still buy it?

>Even NSMBU broke 5 million

That's what happens when you have a console with no third partie support. What other games do you suppose to buy for Wii U?

>Why in the world would they stop this when a decent amount of consumers still buy it?

>Why in the world would they stop this when a decent amount of consumers still buy it?

Because they are losing users on each generation?

Thereis a limit of how many copies a game could sell on a limited user-based console. What would happen if NX sales drop? How many copies of Mario NX could sell?
>>
>>333691376

No, that's what happens when you have an established IP loved by millions. Even going by your logic of third parties, 2D Mario still sold fairly well on other platforms that Nintendo had. There plenty of other games on SNES, and Super Mario World sold millions.

I'm not arguing there isn't a limit, but what I'm saying is, this franchise, regardless of the lack of consoles sold, still has plenty of demand. It's just that some consumers aren't willing to buy Nintendo consoles just for that game. It doesn't mean it isn't popular. It doesn't mean people don't still love it.

How did they manage to get such shit graphics out of the Wii U?

>>
>>333692314

Yes, I realize that. I'm not disagreeing that they don't have the stranglehold over the market like they used to, or even that console sales are decreasing. I'm just saying that for now, releasing more NSMB games is profitable, so they may as well do it. There's clearly a demand for it, so why not make the games?

Not saying abandon everything else, but that there's a reason they still exist. Even if it's 5 million down from the massive 28 million they had with NSMBWii, those numbers are impressive. Square Enix and other publishers would kill for those numbers.

For now, they should just do it and have other studios like Monolith Soft release more games, as well as other third parties like Platinum. Tap into Retro, Intelligent Systems, etc. and make new IPs. Or revive old ones like F-Zero.

Trust me anon, I'm on your side here. But at the same type I need to stress the popularity of NSMB games, and the reason they still exist to this day, even given dwindling numbers.

I'm comparing it to games that have the same price tag and are projected ro sell a similar amount

I must be a teenager because I value my money and question what I have to pay a premium for
>>

Anon, right now I'm under the influence of something, but I feel dude, the hype for Star Fox. I just know this will be a good title, you can't deny it. The great banter, the solid gameplay and clever use of the gamepad, the challenge, the choices we'll get to make. The different bosses, shortcut, the chicken walker. Star Fox is back nigga, it's back and no shitposter and nasayes can disprove that.

Just believe, let the hype take over. Ride it like a unicorn in space. For once in your life get happy. Happy yourself be happy about this. A Good Star Fox game and a good future.

It will be bad dude. Mark my words. it will be an hour long and 1/3 of the levels will require those other stupid vehicles.

Yes, you are a teenager.

It looks nice, except for all the visual effects (rings, power ups) obfuscating your view. I can barely see what's going on half the time.

gameplay without game direction is just a mechanic, with no reason to play with it.
gameplay without art direction can affect difficulty, because things that affect the player differently look the same, or don't look at all. When the player can't use the feedback from the screen to make their decisions, half of the gameplay loop is interrupted. Even the choice of providing visual feedback or not is part of art direction. Same with audio

Are the people that bought a Wii u on suicide watch? How could they still support Nintendo after a second virtual boy? Its honestly surreal at this point. Not once did the Wii u lineup ever even look promising yet people bought it thinking it would be. And low and behold it's getting cut short and hasn't had a good game on it ever. I dodged a bullet not getting one that's for sure. I'd get one in a few years time but by then I'm sure emulation will be up and the games won't run at a laptop resolution.

Because you have free shooting range, you no longer have to face where you're shooting.
That's the point of the gyro controls. It lets you do maneuvers you couldn't before, like drive-bys.

>>333688395
Oh wow its about half as fast as many arcade games in the same vein arcade games from 20 years ago and I'm pretty sure I've played faster and more difficult phone games with the same looking graphics.

Give me an arcade game that's similar to starfox and I'll play it on the hardest fucking difficulty

>what happened to innovation

Nothing happened, you moron.

Nothing happens because actual innovation doesn't sell.

Innovation doesn't sell because you and everyone else within 2 std. devs. won't touch anything that doesn't meet your absurd nostalgia/instant gratification prerequisites and isn't sponsored by millions of dollars of brand marketing that tells you it's okay to throw more than a dime at it.

And then when it finally does reach this goal, you bitch about how it lost its integrity by catering to the lowest common denominator.

And you're an even bigger moron by expecting cutting-edge experimental innovation from a company whose entire model is to stay on the side of safe family friendly entertainment.

speed is secondary. Reaction time is more important. That stage uses a lot of objects to obscure vision and pops up obstacles late

If you're a moron, or if you're smart. These youtubers with the game are just GOING.

Maybe not in this, but I actually would like them to try out the on-foot gameplay again in the future. If feel Assault didn't implemented it right, but it wasn't like it couldn't /work/

Also do like Cap. Falcon and incorporate the Smash moves somehow. Shooting shit while quick dashing and reflecting shit would be fucking amazing.

Starfox TPS cover shooter when

>“And thus we thought it would be a good opportunity to go back to the roots of Star Fox. The game itself is not a Star Fox ‘4’ or ‘5’, and it’s not a new spinoff. It really is going back to the roots, and that’s where the ‘Zero’ comes from.”
Huh.
That's a better explanation than just "I liked the kanji" at E3.

how could people play or enjoy the original games? The r-wing is constantly in the view and the tunnel perspective makes it silly to aim
