Dream:
NX is a cartridge-based platform; cartridges play on both a DS-like portable and a Wii U like console. The console supports splitscreen + portable screen play for up to 12 player local player. The portable has the same inputs as the console and can take the same games on the go.
Thanks to to its 10nm Pascal-based Tegra SoC (you said I could dream!!), the handheld is more powerful than the Wii U. The console is the same thing, with some extra cores and GDDR5 RAM for multiplayer.
Rumors like a capacitive free-form screen and clickable scrollwheel buttons for the L1 and R1 would be a bonus.
Zelda NX, New Mario, Mario Kart as launch titles with Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Quest, a new Rayman all in the launch window. I'll keep going--new Etrian, SFV, and SM4SH port all seem reasonable.
Nightmare:
The NX is a PowerPC-based console. It can read data from smartphone games. It is otherwise an ordinary console, slightly less powerful than the PS4 and backwards compatible with Wii U games. Zelda U is the only launch title.

Flash memory has come full circle. Dual layer BDVDS are pretty expensive; a 64GB (which is the largest size you'd see) flash cartridge would only be about a dollar more at volume. That's still a lot, but we can expect that cost to go down over the course of the system's lifetime.
No more load times. Cross-platform play. It'll be great.
