Star Fox Zero will be trash you will have beaten and be bored with in mere hours, but it's still better than "VR".
Buy VR when there are actual games. The technology is there (barely) but the only games that exist for it are glorified tech demos and sub-Wii Sports mini games. It will look cool, but then you'll realize you're still bored after the initial experience.
Buy actual video games instead.

Well a 'meme' is an idea what catches on, which it is, so yes 'VR' the term (as well as the gimmick of video game immersion goggles) is definitely memetic.
If you want to know if VR is going to be gimmicky shit... If it is, in a couple of decades you'll have that rare gimmick that never took off and it'll be worth money...
