It honestly sounds like you've gone to the wiki and just started naming INT spells. You're not getting far without spear type spells, especially in PvE. They're the only ones you can stack to the point of using them frequently. Also Soul mass is trash, it's not even worth the atttument slot.

I dont use pyro. I use 6 forbidden suns. Could go up to 9 if I could be bothered to do another PvE run of the game. I mainly use my raw Footie sword 7/6 reqs and mix it with salvos of 2-3 FS after a hit or two.
Many times I dont cast it at all in the duel as there wasnt opening. It still does 1/3 of hp ost of the time even at 5int/5faith but the homing on the skill is abyssal. You could strafe and FS will never hit you.
