Everything i have experienced from modern Blizzard proves to me that they're going to find new and exciting ways to piss off what few remaining fans they still have.

Battleborn had a shot at some success until Overwatch was confirmed to have console versions. They've been trying to play up the PvE stuff more lately since that's the on big plus it has over Overwatch, but I'm really getting the impression that this is a minor aspect, maybe even just bot matches. I just don't see it keeping the attention of people that play Destiny or The Division for PvP. Not to mention the fact that it just looks like more of Gearbox's tired style and mediocre gameplay.
Overwatch just comes across as so much more appealing. The only real issue I've seen is concern about how well it will be supported considering Blizzard's console track record.
I think Doom might affect both of them on consoles too. I've seen more talk about it than either of them on some console focused forums. The $40 season pass pissed some people off though.
I'm still waiting to try the console versions, but am hold judgment for the betas. I'm leaning pretty heavily toward Overwatch though. At the very least Blizzard is way better at character design.

Diablo 3 on consoles outpaces the PC version, it's pretty ridiculous so I'm sure Overwatch is safe if that's the only thing you're going off.

Diablo PC keeps getting updates and the season stuff. Console version is no longer being updated, including no fix for the people that are cheating.
As a shooter that's going to put out maps and characters, I'm not super worried, but if the playerbase gets too low I will. Valve just abandoned TF2 on consoles last gen. Same thing happened to Monday Night Combat.
