I wish it just stayed Dinosaur Planet. You could see how much potential it had. If they didn't force Rare to port it to gamecube and then rush them ontop of that, I think this would've been a classic along with Banjo and Zelda.

The game would be far more beloved if it hadn't been a Star Fox title. And if it didn't sell well, it at least would have been a hidden gem. Making it a Star Fox game was a mistake I think, as it angered SF fans, didn't really help it sell all that much more, and they missed an opportunity to create a new IP. And Splatoon thankfully should show that Nintendo can be very profitable off of new IPs, remember Splatoon was almost a Mario game.

The problem with Rare was that they were getting bought out by Microsoft, and that's all Nintendo's fault too because they were too arrogant to buy out that last 1% of Rare's stock and license them as a 2nd-Party company.
It's upsetting because I always think back to what could've been when I see all the garbage Nintendo's pumping out today and watch those Rare Replay vids where they discuss the design process for their games. I'm at least glad Microsoft's showing interest in Rare again with RR and KI, even if the later isn't my cup of tea.

Rare was starting to lose their edge when they sold them and Nintendo could smell it.
Microsoft got an empty shell of a company, all the people of talent started leaving and Microsoft was left with Kinect shovelware.
All the people in those replay vids don't work there anymore, all Neo-Rare can do is reminisce about when they were good.
