Some people don't get high the first time regardless of how they smoke it. Something to do with the THC receptors in the brain "waking up" for the first time I think.
Next time, take long, slow draws, holding the smoke in your mouth and then sharply inhale, filling your lungs with the smoke and then air, being careful not to lose any smoke. Hold it for 3-6 seconds, and slowly exhale.
As for games, simple/fun or engaging/detailed stuff is best, I enjoy PvZ and Skyrim when I'm with my gf (casul scrub) and Pokemon, Risk of Rain, Dark Souls, RE4 and MGS3 when I'm on my own, depending how fucked I am determines the difficulty.

Sometimes it's easier just to chill and switch off to a game where you can really control the pace, like an rpg. But sometimes a good fighting game can be a blessing. It really depends on who you're with.
