Where do you go to discuss games /v/ won't talk about because /v/ are a bunch of ignorant posers with no taste?

This is the best racing game in about a decade.

Yeah it's fucking awesome,
I wish there were more players though. And more people making custom maps.

But yes, Trackmania is always great.
>>

I heard it's coonsolized shit compared to the older trackmania games.

The main issues I see are having to deal with uPlay or whatever the fuck it is and the lack of dedicated servers (which is kind of shit).

But overall it seems to be the most content rich TM out of the box to date. Whether the community supports it is an entirely different issue.

For PC the old stadium is way better

Trackmania's thing has always been customization and tons of user created content which Turbo disallows (no dedicated servers, no custom skins/models, no server mods, etc).

There's a reason Nations Forever still has players, and it sure ain't Ubisoft.

TM United is still the best TM in my books, despite community being around 100 folks during prime time.

I do own Turbo but mainly waiting on the custom tracks to build up to the point where the hosted rooms aren't just the Nadeo tracks.

Competent replay editor?

Turbo is the active one currently. TM2 was so mishandled (partly due in thanks to the botched Steam version, as well as Shootmania) that it's hard to recommend with its current dwindling server count.
>>
I've been playing United again and it's hard to believe it's as old as it is (atrocious server mod UIs aside). Nadeo have real fucking wizards working on the lighting in their engines.

Half the fun of Trackmania is seeing what different skins people bring to the race, from Mazda 787s and Ferrari F40s to cars ripped from GTA to Sanic running with his arms out.

And drawing dicks, too.

All the Euro servers and their smorgasbord soundtracks have actually introduced me to a number of bands I wouldn't have listened to otherwise.

Sometimes you get great Euro bands you never heard of, and sometimes you get to hear music you forgot existed.

The eyesore of mod UIs is part of the experience for me. I wouldn't play TM without it.

Good thing you can turn off other cars, then, or disable skin downloading entirely (not that you have to because 70% of people have their FUCKING LOCATOR FILES SET WRONG ANYWAY so they have the default grey cars anyway).

Arena shooter where everyone has a railgun, and standing on certain tiles can change the weapon you're currently holding.

They basically tried to use the TrackMania "Build your own levels" formula on an FPS.

Nope! The general slowness of Nadeo and all the ManiaPlanet issues back then (made maintaining a server for either game hell) didn't help matters either.

It looks really lackluster compared to TMNF and 2. And what's worse, it will spread the remaining people in the community across 3 different titles, so more servers will be empty and die.
>>
is there a reason to buy turbo when i can just play tmnf?

turbo is jus tanother rehash of environments that have existed in the games for 10 years now. it also lacks basic features that i enjoy (mainly dedicated servers).

what were they even thinking? why even make a new game when you're gonna make it worse than existing games?

25x is the limit for TMU unless there's something I'm missing. Never played TM2 that much since I fucked up by getting the fragmented Steam version.

Nadeo didn't think to make a general TM2 client for Steam and having the environments be considered DLC.

And fresh from TMU.

Turbo only has the "basic" video editor from TM2 which you use to edit and render replays. TM2's advanced editor was actually fully featured and had a shit tonne of settings you could play around with, it was more akin to a real editing program like Vegas.

You could also take incredibly high quality screenshots with it, like this one.

i have yet to experience anything fun with turbo that matches that

yeah the game looks nice, the music is good, but the multiplayer is already stale. why they got rid of global leaderboards, i have no clue.
>>
Turbo is really fun, and I enjoy the environments almost on par with Sunrise's.
But there's really no excuse for the amount of missing content and features compared to the old games. If there was one example of a game ruined by being on consoles, this would be a prime example if it.
>>
>>333593750
They ARE kinda limited on that regard, being a small team and forced to make a console version.
I just hope they readd a load of the missing functionality later on.
>>
>>333593750
You might as well make a post saying
>fuck PC players

This is why devs shouldn't post on forums.
>>
>>333593890
With how limited the game is I'm surprised it isn't cross-platform online.

That said, fuck the analog controls on Lagoon. Stick goes from barely turning the car to veering off to the left/right.
>>
>>333593967
Lagoon's handling in general is a bit odd, but I find Valley more annoying purely because of how awkward it is to control on keyboard, has a tendency to snap into a hard turn.
>>
>>333589145
it's the same game but with less cars

I'm enjoying Turbo a lot, it's amazing. But holy shit, what did they do to the cars? They're so ugly.

all this game has is a decent singleplayer campaign which wont take it very far
>>
>>333594181
Are the cars in Turbo even based off anything? All the previous Trackmania cars were real cars with the emblems filed off and usually the headlights/taillights stylized a bit (which leads to funny stuff like the TM2 Canyon car being a stylized fifth-gen Mustang that looks almost identical to the real world SIXTH-gen Mustang that hadn't been revealed yet).
>>
>>333594108
I just moved to full analog for Turbo. TMU/TM2 I was keyboard unless it was Stadium, where you want to be able to make very slight turns.

But yeah, Lagoon....it's 'fine' on the rollercoaster portion where that hard turn is needed on any 90 degree pieces while maintaining fullspeed, but any track that's on ground is absolute hell to not wipe out on.
>>
>>333594219
I only wish they used the same progression system as the prior TMs which went based on medal count to unlock tiers/sets. Not a literal "Do every single level" to then see the later/harder stuff.
>>
>>333594219
>Decent single player

Is Trackmania 2: Canyon worth buying? From seeing people play I like that there's more focus on chucking cars round corners with huge skids
>>
>>333595268
Better off waiting a few months to see what the future of TM2 is post-Turbo. There's already barely anyone playing the TM2 environments online.

>Racing

I bought the game and It's alright, but I have yet to see an actual race, it's nothing but time attack segments.

Am I a retard or there's no way to actually race, like doing laps around a track against other cars with collision and all.
>>
>>333597193
Core of the game series is time attack.

Only thing with collision in it are those weird local multiplayer modes you enter via codes, which is new to the series. There's no traditional racing option.
