Ever since the movie, AVGN has been more about nostalgia for himself than playing bad games.
Shit needs to stop.
These fucking episodes. He needs to go back to the 2010 episodes, fucking watch them and remember what made them decent. Make the subject matter the GAME and JUST the game and any branching off must always be brief and have a point.
Episodes from recent years are either quickly put together pieces of shit made in about 20 minutes or these 'epic' longer episodes which are all about himself! He's really lost his way with these, it's a fucking shame

SwordQuest was the best episode. Every episode that felt more like a historical documentary rather than a "review" was god tier. James does excellent research and presents it very well.

The thing is, James doesn't have more NES or old games to review that are nostalgic to him. That was the thing about his character. They wrote scripts about games they played as kids or as teenages, took the things that made them mad, things you could never figure it out without guides(because no net) and things worked out well. That's why his early episodes are short and very good and then after a point it's hit or miss. Other episodes are forced because he doesn't feel the game at all and he tries too hard.
He should have stopped his character way back. If he needs to, just do some random videos with him playing with Mike, Bootsy, whatever.
