What does /v/ think of Sam "Serious" Stone?
Hell, I'd go so far as to say that, not counting 3, this is easily the greatest FPS series of all time.
>Not counting 3
>Counting 2
>>333565582
2 has all the same gameplay with bigger and more varied environments. Plus the soundtrack is pretty damn good.
>>333565790
And 3 doesn't?
>>333565858
No two segments in SS2 are alike. Meanwhile SS3 is Shitty Indoor Space Monkey Segment, Followed by Big Field: The Game. You do the whole finding 4 artifacts twice in the game. Three times if you count the DLC.
>>333565176
>Not enjoying all the actual FPS Serious Sam games
Even the weird spin offs are still decent, if a bit bizarre.
3's only problem is that dragged its feet before actually gettingserious.Once it picked up, though, it was fun as hell.
>tfw that last canyon on Serious
>>333565176
I'm playing TFE and i cant get past the kleer alley. Is there a trick or do i just need to git gud?
>>333565790
>>333566164
TFE>TSE>>>3>>>most shootans>>>>>>>>>>>>drinking piss>>>>>2
>>333566174
Yeah, the spin-offs are great. SSDDXXL is some great couch co-op.
>>333566325
When you first enter that alley, you should take a very good look at the walls near the doorway.
>>333566164
That's one of the reasons 2 sucks. Nothing is relateable, and the enemies are all sorts of fucked up. Also, it's got really awful lag when you're playing with 16 guys.
SS3 wasn't that great either, yes the fetching and cave coon segments are bad, but at least the game works, and the final level is rad.
>>333566325
Have you gotten the cannon secret that's locatedjust right of the gate?
>>333566325
I finished it on hard mode, just gotta pace yourself. I recall using the grenade launcher at first and saving rockets/bullets for when shit got real, standing around the corner and shooting them as they rounded it.
>the weapons in BFE that you can't really get to use because ammo is rare as fuck and only in secrets
>even if you managed to pick up every secret weapon you'll only have enough to have it topped off once
Granted, the DLC allowed you to play around with the laser and the sniper rifle, but it was so disappointing to only get 50 laser ammo every two levels or whatever the fuck it was.
>mfw someone prefers Serious Sam to Painkiller near me
>>333565176
sureley you are counting TSE as the second game and 2 as the third right?2 is pretty fucking fun in co-op though
DOOM is the greatest fps series anyway
>>333566869
Both are good faggot. Don't be like that.
>>333565582
This.
>>333566480
>>333566576
>>333566775
I got the cannon, and i ended up rocket jumping onto a roof and killing the kleer form there where they couldn't touch me,
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-talos-principle-writer-signs-up-for-serious-sam-4/
This is a bad thing, right?
I wanted shitty one-liners, not 2deep4u audio tapes
>>333567514
Have you heard the Serious DLC in Talos Principle?
>>333567476
woah slow down there hotshot
>>333567514
>Implying Croteam is going to give Serious Sam a serious plot ever
Are you stupid
>>333566576
>>333566480
Fun fact: Picking up the cannon before that segment doubles the amount of enemies that spawn.
>>333568054
God, what the fuck even goes on in their dev meetings
>>333567601
what?
>>333568363
screaming in croatian
>>333568363
>How can we make the player suffer
>>333568523
>>333568559
Sounds legit.
>>333568363
>What can we do to make a challenging, engaging, and rewarding experience for the player so that he or she can feel as though their input and effort matters when progressing through the campaign?
Serious Sam TFE and TSE are great
2 was weak, the first couple levels made for an alright shooter for the time, but when the hordes come out the problems with the design is more obvious.
3 Though may still be my least favorite for the annoying hitscan enemies. The game gets better as it goes on but it can be really frustrating with all the bad choices Croteam made, I understand though because of the rough development of the game and compared to modern shooters its still really fun, but damn does it have a lot of problems.
That helicopter fight is DMC 2 bad.
Hopefully 4 takes what 3 did right and mix it with the classic game properly
>>333568363
>CEO calls the team idiots during one of TFE's development meetings and says that even people without a head could do a better job
>they chase him around the table, screaming and yelling
>the Headless Kamikaze enemy was born
Not even kidding.
>>333569949
I wish SS4 would go back to the Classic/HD style, but Croteam already confirmed its going to continue the "serious" tone of SS3. I miss my floating and rotating weapons/items. We need a game like that running on a modern engine. It could look amazing.
>>333570156
That's fucking ridiculous but I believe it
>tfw you're krundle blind
>>333570419
Go get the jelly
>>333570205
Damn
Still hoping for the best
But I miss classic Sam
more of a blood guy.

Croteam are masters of marketing
>>333571674
*Devolver Digital
So I heard SS4 was in development
What do you think will be the new weapon for the game will be? BFE had the Devastator, which I honestly enjoyed, even if you don't get a lot of ammo for it unless you're abusing ammo boxes or playing the DLC.
>>333571973
You get a fuck ton of ammo for the Devastator though. It was my go-to weapon for almost every situation.
>>333572070
Oh yeah, I used the Devastator just after the Cannon if I had the ammo for it, and you do get plenty late game.
But mid-game you get enough to use it as a hard threat remover, because there isn't enough ammo to justify using it against, say, a horde of kleer.
>>333568523
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Honestly I couldn't get into it. I tried on three separate occasions over the last three years, but the guns don't feel like they have any oomf for a game centered on slaughtering dozens of enemies at a time. But more egregious is the lack of level design, it's just not interesting to play these games for me. And I know the point of these games is tons and tons and tons of enemies on screen, but each time I played Serious Sam I just yearned for Doom.
>>333572761
Be careful what you wish for, mortal.
2 was okay but holy shit it's co-op is so broken. So many glitches and level triggers that just fail to go off.
Also not a fan of how 2 neutered Kamikazes and Kleers.
>>333571973
Hopefully a decent shotgun. The SS3 double barrel was ear sex but it wasn't really more useful than other weapons you had.
>>333566869
painkiller didnt make me feel an adrenaline rush. serious sam always does.
>>333572761
Did you try co-op?
>Playing BFE
>Get to that one giant bull enemy sitting on the throne
>Lay a shit ton of C4
>Erase him from existence before it even becomes a fight
That felt amazing
>>333574994
knuhms get what they deserve.
>>333574994
C4 is so fucking OP. It's like a rocket with a massive radius with 0 falloff damage. It's like hitting every enemy in its blast radius with a direct rocket.
