Most people would tell you yes but I don't think so. Monster Hunter's combat is extremely slow and you're locked into attacks for far too long. There's also no proper lock-on mechanic in MH. I mean, it has one, but its not good and only works on bosses.
Most MH "clones" are better than MH. Of course, that's my opinion. Some people like that MH locks you into attacks and think a lock-on in unnecessary when where you attack on the body is also important.
