It's okay. Clots aren't the most fun to play but if shit like Scrakes were up on Round 1 it'd be nearly impossible for the humans, so it's understandable. Although it's nothing a balance fix couldn't fix. Adding a buy period Round 1 and some starting cash would allow Zeds to have specials from the get-go, or something. But being a clot that dies from one-shot pretty much 100% of the time is rather boring and not very fun.

That said, it's in no way a game-seller, and will largely be ignored.

tripwire didn't create killing floor any more than they created the community weapons.
they bought the rights to the mod, updated the meshes and textures, and created the husk. everything since then has been a cashgrab.

Killing Floor was originally a total conversion mod for the game Unreal Tournament 2004, first released in 2005.[7][8] The lead developer Alex Quick was first approached by Tripwire Interactive about porting Killing Floor to their game Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, but Quick did not follow through. A few years later, when their user base started to dwindle, Quick contacted Tripwire again to negotiate the port to Red Orchestra, and its distribution via Steam—similar to what Tripwire had already done with another Red Orchestra mod Mare Nostrum—and then later, the retail game.[6] The mod version had its fifth and final official update in July 2008.

As far as I know:
Unfucked the character models (everyone was a manlet, as in about 160cm tall)
Removed bugs
Made the class system meaningful by reducing the availability of special roles (at launch practically half of the kraut team would use MG34s and STGs).
Multiped the kill points you get for a kill by 4, which is a fucking godsend.
Introduced more maps.
Fixed a fair amount of bugs.

The balancing is absolutely shit. Alpha zeds have too much HP in general, Siren has an ability that can hold a player in place and drain their health from afar, grab ability for clots is way too good because of the health boost and you can't stumble them with melee, the 4 round limit makes it harder to balance because it gives the player and zombies less time to grow and adapt to each others tactics, Stalker is kind of ridiculous with her heavy attack (has more range than light and is generally more useful) and dodge (incredible distance and speed, allows you to get behind a player every time they line a shot up at you), and Husks are incredibly OP when it comes to everything.

His health requires a fucking aeon to deplete, and his grenade tossing intensifies in his final form, then fucking chases you. There's barely anytime to heal, reload or even shoot because he'll run up and rape your ass or toss Zyklon B in your face. For the last guy alive, it becomes a long game of ring-around-the-rosie, which he usually ends up losing.

For one, don't listen to /v/ for opinions on games. You either watch gameplay vieos or buy/pirate the game, then refund it if you dislike it.

/v/ has shit opinions, the game is good but needs to be finished and updated faster. If you don't want to buy an incomplete game, wait until release, but it's still smarter to buy the game when it goes on sale if you're going to inevitably by it on release anyway because there's no harm in it.

Most of the Tripwire development team is working on Red Orchestra: Vietnam, probably why this game has continued to languish.

Red Orchestra is one of the few IP's they've actually created. Even then it was still a total conversion mod of UT'03

Zeds REALLY need to coordinate or you will not win.

Zerkers are OP as fuck, the pulverizer in particular is to much in this mode, it one shots all the trash zeds and does AoE damage, a zerker/medic team can basically lock down the game.

The boss fight doesn't work well, especially in open maps and most pubs are to stupid to heal, you seem a lot slower than the computer controlled patty and most of the fast classes just get around you and hit you in the back with impunity.

No penalty for death for the human team, they don't lose money if they die.

It badly needs balance patches.

I just played a couple VS rounds.
The bloat can lay bloat mines
The siren has some strange pull-and-immobilize attack
The other zeds have the same attacks as their PVE counterparts.
Player-controlled Zeds are "tankier" than regular zeds; a player gorefast was able to draw all the fire.
I think it was fun.

Literally all that's asked for from KF2 was more classes, more maps, and better grafics.
They did the grafics part very well. The game is beautiful I'll give them that.

What NOBODY asked for however was a fucking stupid hat system like TF2 crates. Literally NOBODY actually likes that system. NOBODY. I think the most disgusting part was that they actually bothered shoehorning in that dumbass microtransaction system into the game before the new promises classes even. Fuck Tripwire.

It's a great game, already better than original KF was, and it sure as hell worth mere $30 they're asking. Any other studio would have slapped $60 price tag on it.

My main issue with KF2 is that the map design sucks ass, the class balance is whack, they removed a bunch of viable strats from KF1 and the pacing of the game just feels off.

I don't know what it's like at the moment, but the last time I played, it was basically just 1 or 2 medics and berserkers since why would you wanna play anything else? They can run faster, take more damage and deal more damage than any other class. It just turned into a fuckfest with 6 players running around at sanic speeds and never dying, bashing things with claymores. Welding is totally fucked (making the already weak Support even shitter) and the teleporting zeds is just lazy design.

Tripwire has never been good at balancing.

Their nerf to the m99 in KF1 was making each bullet cost 500 dosh making it impossible to buy, they nerfed the scythe weapon into worthless garbage as well.

Meanwhile the zerker could still solo the entire game in a 6 man HoE just fine, the fact that PvP has such ,major issues doesn't surprise me and it worries me honestly, Trip is shit at nerfing and buffing now they have 2 game modes to worry about.

This game has to be played with the brightness slider up to max for some maps not to drive you crazy. Catacombs gets pitch fucking black though even with max brightness you'll be struggling to see anything.

Just finished playing a couple of versus games, its a joke. I whipped out the boom stick as a lvl 25 zerker and just one shotted every player zed in my path. It didn't matter how hard they evaded or jumped around all I had to do was swing either at him or an enemy near him and he's gone.

So unbalanced. And this is what they've been working on this entire time, instead of giving us the perks we have been waiting for they give us this shitty excuse for a versus survival game. And to top it all off they add in a crafting system because that's just what this unfinished piece of shit needed right?

Fuck shitwire.
