Zwei is sort of easy, but using it for absolutely everything makes a few sections kind of hard, so its the most fun overall

It has a scabbard.
It has an amazing moveset.
It's buffed by the Leo Ring.
It's grip and scabbard are purple, the best color.
It's lightweight.

DaS2 was Pates spear. Also liked Ricard Rapier too.
BloodBorne is the Cainhurst Rapier and also liked whip and The hammersword.
Demon Souls don't remember but I think I used that dragon great sword or something mostly.
My all time favorite weapon is Pate's Spear.

I don't know I'm having trouble finding a good one in my DaS2:SotFS playthrough.
I have 35 dex and I'm using the warped blade and it does enough damage, but the moveset leaves something to be desired and I can't beat the fucking Smelter Demon with it.

the sword in the left hand is the Majestic Greatsword, otherwise known as Artorias' Greatsword. The one in the right hand is presumably the Claymore. The L2 move when powerstanced is that there anime flip. it deals a pretty hefty amount of damage, has hyper poise and pancakes people that get hit by the downward slash. The Majestic Greatsword also has a frontflip move on the L2 is you two-hand it that halfway through the flip knees people in the face for a short stun and also pancakes people when they're hit with the follow-up downward slash. Furthermore, on the one-handed non-powerstanced L2, the Majestic Greatsword has a double-spin that knocks people over and sends them flying. It's a pretty fun weapon for PvP.

What? It's ONLY flaw is that the roll attack can be unreliable in pve when you're not locked on. Warped Sword might be the best dex weapon in the game.
But Rapiers work quite well, dex got hosed in 2 because slash damage got nerfed into the ground and dex weapons don't typically have regular or strike damage, luckily thrust came out ok.

if you're having trouble with the Smelter Demon, get a shield with high fire and physical resistance or get good at timing your rolls properly. If you have less than 15 ADP, you ought to level it up to 15+, seeing as having anything below that leaves you with too few invincibility frames during a roll to dodge consistently.
I look up the best weapon online and then make a beeline to get it and upgrade it all the way and cheese the game.

Longswords in general are the #2 weapon if W. Sword is #1, they're also fucking good.
If you find yourself better with them I reccomend looking up a Longsword that has good DEX scaling (like the Sun Sword), and doesn't have a significantly altered moveset.
So yeah, Sun Sword is your best bet, otherwise, Drakekeeper, Heide, and vanilla Longsword all scale B/B as opposed to A/A. The Puzzling Stone Sword from the DLC is E/S but it's shit.
Why is melee so shit in DaS2?

Seems like the only good weapon is Estoc and Mace. (I'm talking about PvE)

My advice, hug his butt and roll right when he's facing you. Back off when he goes into his upgrade animations (flame body, flame sword), you won't do nearly as much damage during those animations, and you'll still be taking damage from the flame body.

I don't know what game you're playing anon, but melee is the best option by far. Anything with strike damage deals the most damage, since most enemies are weak to strike. In the DLC areas, any sort of elemental damage goes to shit since everything has high res against everything. Get a greathammer and wreck shit ya dumbdumb
Does anyone have a recommended upgrade path/build for the caestus in DaS1. I love using it but it does such poor damage, even at +15.

I didn't want to get burnt out on Souls before DaS3 came out so I've been emulating the King's Field games. Beat 1 Japan and 1 US, they hold up surprisingly well. It's pleasant just playing a straight dungeon crawler.

Hand axe is my favorite but one handed weapons don't look that great for non-duel pvp in DS3.
Between the DS2 style stunlock limit and the quick estus animation, I think a lot of people are going to be building for high damage weapons or highly buffed ones so you can kill quickly.
From what I've seen I'm also a bit disappointed at the armor selection in DS3, for all it's faults DS2 had a nice wide selection with lots of parts that could be mixed and matched much easier than in the first game. I'll reserve my judgement until the game is actually out but It looks like there's less 'generic' looking sets to be looted.

How does counter damage with the lucerne work? I wanted to play through one more time with a build I had never tried and have the Leo Ring and a lucerne hammer, but I can't seem to consistently get the massive damage it should be outputting.
Also, why is it called the lucerne hammer in Das? DeS renamed it to Mirdan to reflect that Switzerland presumably doesn't exist.

It's probably the Partizan or Flamberge in DaS. Partizan has such a useful moveset, feels like kick ass bo staff combat but with a bladed tip. This, to be honest family member. It and the bone fist felt like being a martial arts master. It sucks so hard they made mundane suck. It was such an interesting upgrade path that made you have a strange build. It really wasn't all that broken. Balancing these games repeatedly was a mistake. IT would have been better to just create an environment where being a scummy dick wasn't as demanded.
