Slither.io Thread
I've been noticing everyone has been going for the aggressive tactic of just charging in the big snakes.
The problem with this is that when the big snakes die, Everyone hoards for the loot and it becomes a very life or death situation.
This made these lives very short and quick.
I then thought, "How about I just be a passive snake, and just kill people who go aggressive?"
This worked pretty well for my first try, and made my games much longer.
Anyone got any Slither.io Stories?
I play passively and got to first twice, for about 10 minutes each time.
i've been having fun just playing as a 200-500 length snake, naming myself "This is bait" and just coiling myself until stupid snakes take the bait and then killing them
the amount of snakes that fall for it is incredible

That's somewhat how I got this score. After I got 5k, I went to the middle of the edge and center and circled sneks for kills while they were eating, and most of the time they're too busy fighting for the corpse that they never notice giga niga snek coming in for the coil. I'd say that's about half of my score. The other half was just following other big sneks and when they died just circle the food I wanted so it'd be safe to eat.

When you kill a big one, don't get too greedy. Other sneks will be more than happy to bang into the sides of each other whiles trying to scoop up as much as possible, so it's easy to hang back and take what's safe, while eating everyone that dies during the rush.

Op here. Do you believe that everyone on /v/ has the same opinions? I dont believe that the gaming industry is dying and I still find enjoyment from many games. I find slither.io enjoyable when my mates are busy for 10 minutes and I gotta think of something to so in the meantime. The people who actually believe that gaming is going downhill just are extremely nostalgic for them old games.

Shadowplay with Desktop Capture and converting the mp4's to webms with FFmpeg for me. It's really nice in that it's constantly recording with no FPS drop and I can save the last 10 min. of footage to my hard drive with a button press.
You need a supported Nvidia GPU to use it though, my GPU cost$450.

If you're a big, when another big snake dies, dont follow the death trail, follow next to it and try to wrap around a big portion. Its alot safer so you wont run into people. Then you just circle around what you got and eat it safely.
Also, it sets you up nicely to cut people off who are eating it in the opposite direction.

The site doesn't seem to assign you to the server with the lowest ping all the time, start the game, check if there's lag/delay, if there is press F5 and test again.

Play aggressive for that first kill.
If you die 5 times in a row and only feed on your 6th life, you'll be longer than if you would have just been passive the whole time.
After that first BIG kill, go passive.

I had a reddit snake following me around for a good 10 minutes cause I was 5th or so on the leaderboard. Multiple times we would be trying to kill eachother until I said fuck it, and started to just ignore him, but he of course, kept following. While coiling one of my catches, the reddit snake tried to coil around me, thinking I wasn't paying attention to him, and when he almost had me fully trapped, I dashed out and killed him.
Felt like popping a pimple that refused to pop for a few days.
Advice: if I'm a mid-range couple thousand snake and you're some little few hundreder, don't start innocently slithering along near my head or I'll swat you like the fly you are. Trailing my tail, fine, we've all been a hanger-on now and again hoping for some easy scraps from the table. But don't hang around where you might pose a threat and then get pissed off when I kill and eat you.

I was like 10k and coiling around a smaller snake. Got it, but at that time the 2nd on the leaderboard coiled around me. But he had to do a massive loop in order to get round me and I just trailed right on the inner edge of his loop, so it took him quite a long time to make the loop tighter and tighter. Eventually, another big snake, but smaller than him, managed to get around him because he had made himself small by coiling.
