Well basically I'm casually interested in a couple of games but the thing is you can't buy a Wii U where I live if it's unbundled (I think anyway, I've been searching for it online without any luck). Those games are Mario Maker, Mario Kart/Splatoon and Xenoblades. Not very interested in the latter ones but Mario Maker seems fun and then there's a couple other ones which are interesting if I get can them fairly cheap and then of course there's upcoming Starfox and Zelda.

Splatoon, MK8, and XCX are all grear, although I could understand hesitancy for XCX if you're not a fan of the genre or haven't played XCWii. My advice would be to look into some of the recommended games on the system and decide whether you're interested in them enough to justify it.

Yeah, I will probably browse a bit still. The only thing that really keeps me from buying it is the upcoming NX. I mean if Nintendo said right here and now that the next Zelda will be Wii U exclusive I would buy it but now with all the rumours of a new console coming up it's a tougher decision.

It's like infinte Super Mario Bros 1, 2, World and U. If you love those games, I'd say so. You just have to find some really good makers, and use the super mario maker book mark site, or you'll have a hard time finding any levels worth playing.

I played Bowser's Big Chase, and I liked it a lot. Very creative! You can skip using the door if you're quick enough and grab lakitu's cloud. I guess that was intentional though.

Thank you very much. Yes the lakitu cloud was intended for skipping if you're quick enough to do so. Had been working on a remixed version of the level with red coins but yet to release it.

Sadly already played your levels before myself, so not sure if I'll be able to star them again. Great autoscroll levels though, it's a level type that gets shit on often but when designed well it's a blast.

I've been waiting for a thread like this.

I took inspiration from Sonic 1 for this level, where staying on the high path is tricky, but it's the fastest and least dangerous route.

And this one was inspired by the first two Bowser levels in Super Mario 64.

I'm not trying to remake anything here, just take inspiration. I did these after I watched a video where someone suggested taking a look at other platformers and using what you think works to make something new.

I put 6 pink coins in all my levels, they're not really required, they just unlock a room full of coins and 1 ups. I just like to give players an extra thing to hunt for.

They actually do sometimes, but it's an extremely broken system that depends on which sub-area the coins were on versus where you triggered the checkpoint, and the helpful bonus of forgetting all your coins if you die after getting the key.

It was pretty well done. I liked how you would be sent back to the beginning if you messed up.

I had an idea like this that's a little less intricate. Bowser's pretty good at keeping up in a slow scrolling level, so I made one where he's chasing you, and the challenge is to pelt him with enough shells and goombas to kill him before you reach the end. You can still reach the end before hand though. ( contemplating making it a requirement to kill him now that the key update is out. )

This action-puzzle series plays a bit like Metroid. Each course has 13 hidden 1-Ups and many other optional secrets. Each one is a long journey, but there are plenty of item generators and no cheap deaths. If you've played the rest of this series, you'll appreciate the callbacks and references, but you can also enjoy this one on its own.

That's definitely the hardest part. This shot is the first thing you need to do. Use the tracks as a guide for where to grab the egg and where to spit.

After that, you need to eat the plants and shoot triple fire at the bombs from either end of the plant platform to break the ice. You need the cape AND yoshi in the last part. Eat any plant in the way, then run and fly up with yoshi through where the ice was. The first checkpoint is right after that section.

Kind of heavy on the enemy spam, and a bit random with the layout, but I get that you're still playing around with things. What I do when I start out levels is try to find inspiration from real Mario levels that I like. Try making a level based around elements in actual Mario games, and doesn't do anything that you wouldn't find in a real Mario level.
