>Ashes of Singularity also looks promising.

Don't do it. Supcom 2 is better. Ashes has units with even less personality than a supcom game and next to no base-building, apparently because baby Wardell has a hate boner for fixed artillery in TA-likes.

I got it for free due to some fuckery and only played a couple skirmishes before I uninstalled.
>>
>>333520603

Should clarify, supcom2 is better than Ashes. TA and supcom 1 are still better than 2, it's just that 2 has the leg up on Ashes because it has really solid skirmish AI and despite the fuckery it still has base building and some fun units.
>>
>>333520756
It's that bad? As in worse than SupCom 2 that is considered bad?

Darn.
>>
Sins of a Solar Empire
>>
>>333520928

To be fair I don't consider supcom2 as bad as a lot of people do, but yeah. Thought Ashes was pretty fucking bad.

They also tried to sell the "You group units up as armies so they become one mega unit!" thing but even in my couple of skirmishes the armies system seemed garbage. Had multiple instances where a supposedly cohesive force would split up, because one side of it bumped some neutral hostile units while the main body moved to where I ordered it to move, and then got shot up because the rest was fucking with dumbass neutrals instead of in the main fight. Not to mention some super muddy sounds (The computer voiceover/narrator/announcer/whatever chick is fucking awful, can't understand a word she says if there's anything happening on the screen) and the fact that units don't leave husks/corpses behind. None of that TA/supcom satisfaction of a crater-scarred battlefield filled with dead robits. Ashes just puts some black decals on the ground and calls it a day.

Fuck, getting angry just thinking about the game again. THANKS A LOT ANON YOU ASSHOLE

GalCiv II fixed it for ya. 3 is shit.
>>
>>333521818

Damn, sorry to hear that. I waited until the "We totally fixed the game, guys" patch and only did 2 hours before I dropped it. They had a lot of cool ideas, and it was technically functional at that point, but the cool ideas were implemented in fuckawful ways.

For example, the "Orders" system is a cool idea. Giving relatively generic orders to fleets since you're space emprah instead of micromanager, cool. Building an exploration fleet at the homeworld which then can't be given an exploration order due to limited fuel because they're too retarded to get space gas en route to the frontier and have to be re-based on the edge of your empire, god awful.

Was top 300 at my best, but I did noticeably worse on maps with no explosives.
>>
>>333524226

They're barely altering it, just giving resolutions support and bringing back multi servers. I hope /v/ gets a group for it, that game kicked ass back in the day. Still have my disc somewhere.
>>
>>333524030
yeah, I played it a bit but its been a long time since I tried it last.

It was pretty fun. especially on multiplayer but gets old after a while.
>>
>>333523920

I never got in to it much either. Phase-based strategy is cool, but the interface felt clunky. Might've been better if I learned any/all hotkeys but I mostly just did a few games with pals.

Still, the open world shit in 2 is pretty interesting.

>>333524030

I haven't, and even though I generally dislike everything Stardock touches I'm still interested in that. I've skipped it during every sale though because what I've heard (And seen by watching some gameplay) is that it's basically only fun against other humans. Some people think that about ALL strategy games but I still enjoy me some comp stomps, but OTC specifically is only fun against people since there are more economic mind games going on. Since none of my friends give even half a shit about it I couldn't justify picking it up myself since playing with random internet shits would be about as bad as bots.

about 2 or 3 years ago i came back to bz2 and some community fags did patch up the original further. updated graphics and stuff, made it work on newer hardware etc. there was even a master server online to host mp games. was really cool. seems to me like they now just want to cash out on things already existing (like baldurs gate hd -> same thing as bg1 with mods). maybe it will cause some players to come back to it though, would be cool.

last patch version i found was BZ2_v13_PublicBeta_5_1_english

It's hilarious people discussing topics that were in his show, because they assume they know everything while only seeing one side of the picture.

If someone thinks that Supcoms graphics cause them physical pain, then yeah, I care.

I'll ask in this thread

What does Endless legend emperor edition includes?

it's only 13 euro, but I don't know if it comes with all the DLCs, since there's also the Endless Legend Colection for 20 euro

I liked playing Star Trader on my Android, at least I think that was the name.

What's a good comfy PC game with nice ships and trading and stuff? Combat I just wouldn't want overcomplicated but theres so many space games I can't tell the difference between them.

Is turn-based ok?

Best wishes. Hopefully the new pearls system is neat, heard good things.

>but it bothers those who have

This is true. It also uses Homeworld 2-style combat in Homeworld 1. It's not absolutely horrible but it's not a completely clean remaster, and if you've never played the Homeworld games it's not something to give a shit about.

The difference between the emperor edition and regular is that you get a "New" minor faction and hero in EL (Both really negligible in terms of gameplay impact) and a new pod and a new hero in Dungeon of the Endless (Actually adds some meat, but it's the "Deep freeze" addon and can be bought for peanuts for DotE specifically anyway.

Basically no reason to scoop up emperor edition unless you really like EL/Amplitude and wanna throw them a few more bucks. The DotE content is nice but you can get that itself easier.

Man. I like SotS voice acting. It's cheesy but it's good cheese.

I'm liking it so far. The new race has some interesting abilities for winter-manipulation.

Heard about that. They get diplomacy bonuses during the summer and then lose them and gain combat bonuses in the winter, right? Kinda neat to have a race that leverages the season system in EL more than the rest.

Yeah, it's a very interesting difference from the other races. Gotta love a fantasy game that doesn't stick to elves and orcs.

Actually while I'm in here and talking about 4x, what do you fellers think about the new MoO?

Right now I'm of the mind that it's not "Tear your shirt while screaming at the heavens because of the cruelty of the universe"-bad, but it's also not making me want to play it.

Oddly enough it feels like I wished Civ Beyond Earth was. Speaking in gameplay terms here and not theme of course, but the new MoO feels like a streamlined and clean combat focused 4x, while BE was just Civ 5 only worse. Unfortunately MoO is also dropping the ball in fluff and feel (Pretty dull music, the adviser voice acting is horrific and there's a ton of it, interface needs to be stolen from the Endless games because you can't pick up multiple pops at once and can't right click to back out of menus) which is part of what's turning me off, I think.

Looked pretty simplistic and nostalgia-focused, but it's not MoO3, so that's good.

Looks pretty good but needs alot of work to hold up to its past games minus the black sheep.

this, pretty much. watched a playthrough online, there's some things I don't like about it but overall it looks good for a newer 4x that isn't supposed to be unreasonably huge
