the dungeon and miniboss were pretty great apart from Fi fucking up as usual. Even the last section where tentacles are bursting through the ship and you have to get out before it sinks is fun. In fact, I'd say the bossfight wasn't bad, but the design was absolutely terrible considering the buildup it had.
It reminds me of the imprisoned's white bulging toes. His fight was fun once you found the alternate ways to attack him but he was impossible to take seriously.

This fucker had an ability called Beast Eye, which gave him more turns.
He was apparently only supposed to be able to use it a limited number of times, but his scripting is bugged, so he uses it as many times as he damn well pleases.
Turns a mildly interesting fight into an RNG fuckfest where you just pray the boss dosen't give itself 20 turns in a row and wipe your party before you can do anything about it.

No, I didn't have trouble with the controls (though I don't like what it did to the pacing of combat or how it was shoehorned into everything like just using a boss key), I just found the whole thing horribly tedious, predictable, boring, and easy.
I spent the entire game feeling like I was in a tutorial, waiting for the game to open up and allow me to play it properly, and it never happened.
None of the content was compelling, and I dropped the game for months at a time, twice, and only picked it back up both times out of a sense of obligation.
I have never had less fun with a Zelda game, even though I've played part of Faces of Evil, and the bosses certainly weren't highlights, especially with so many of them being rehashed.

Apply this to every single boss fight in Skyward Sword that was way too "E FOR EVERYONE" in design. Tentalus looked like a big doofus, Pyroclastic Fiend looked like a rock with lava legs, The Imprisoned had little tiny baby toes, and so on.
Then you get to the end of the game, and you fight a juiced-out Ghirahim followed immediately by Demise and you start to wonder why all the other bosses didn't quite follow the same aesthetic. It's like they couldn't decide on a tone for the entire fucking game.
