96 was ok.
97,98 were great titles, but very broken.
The entire Nest Saga(99,00,01) was such a shit show, its no wonder SNK went bankrupt.
02 is a cool, since all they did was strip all the stupid shit from the nest saga and make it barebones again.
03 was great, but glitchy as fuck
XI was cool, but still broken
XII was garbage, with tiny roster and no movesets.
XIII started out with a lot of promise but the HD meta killed it hard.
And SNK still went bankrupt again.
None of these games are even remotely balanced

SNK made shit games that didn't sell and refused to keep up with technology advancements
SEGA used the help of american based company Lockheed & Martin in order to create VF1, 2, and 3. VF became a juggernaut of a series in Asia.
Namco went and made 3D fighters popular in the US, and gave the PS1 a franchise worth buying the console for. They later proved in with Soul Calibur(and the help of SEGA) that consoles had surpassed Arcade.
What did KoF do? Just kept redrawing the same shitty sprites on the same shitty hardware they've been using since 1991.
