Eh it was a good game and I really liked the different ways you could go about making your way through the game. But honestly The story didn't compel me as much as it seemed like it was trying to. the ending was meh and the characters were okay.

I thought the story was entertaining but many of the bosses weren't fun and the normal gameplay wasn't great. I only played it last year though so I have no idea what it would've been like playing it when it first came out.

I like the Last of Us, but I only like it for the story and environment. I also think the aesthetic and tone is bang-on.
That said though, the game's annoying as fuck. The way the guns aim, the shitty crafting system, the crap stealth... it tries way too hard. TLOU is the definiton of "all bones and no meat."

In my opinion the horror is more tense. The "It's going to get me!" feeling. There are one or two jump scares in the game, but overall I think the creeping dread is definitely there. It's better in DS 2.
But if you played through it and don't like it, well I'm not going to shit on you too much. You tried it at least.

Okay that's fair at the start.
A lot of what they throw at you is kind of unexplained. By the end though the story gets way better.
The combat also vastly improves once you unlock more things, but if you dislike it at a base level then that's all good.
