It tougher than a lot of other 4X games without requiring severe autism to be decent. My biggest mistake when I fist started was drastically underestimating metal upgrades. The AI buffs the fuck out of all their troops with major upgrades and by the time you are tier 2 they will be at 4 and crush you and that includes using Guardians. Try to keep up as in all 4x people declare was whenever the fuck they want although this game seems to have the AI give maybe 1 or 2 warnings usually..
Is this more fun that Civ V? I like that game, but I've played it to death and want something better.

This right here is why I got sick of the game. The AI is completely and utterly retarded but they cheat so much it's impossible to keep up with them. And once they're in a position of power, they flood you with a steady stream of weenies each turn that you have to crush. It's stupid.

Play Drakkens and immediately have all factions revealed to you and ready for diplomacy if that's your issue.

Except when I play Necrophages, then I autobattle exclusively.
