Will vidya ever be as fun as it was in 2008?
>>
>2008
Wasn't incredibly or anything that year, so yes.

Will it be as fun as 1998? I don't know... hard to say.

Probably the biggest thing affecting it is the desire in the market for pretty high-graffix garbage over interesting gameplay. This ruins so much.

Vidya will never be as fun as it was when you were 13

>mfw the most average years of vidya are more memorable than recent years

feels like i just watched everything i love die in a short course of time
>>
we got so many good games in 2008, but we didn't know how to cherish them.

and now we suffer, big time.
>>
>>333472845
Don't worry, there are lots of progressive forward-thinking people working hard to make games fun and inclusive for everyone!
>>
>>333472845
Well OP, you'll never be 12 again so no.

This reminds me of a joke about science fiction.

I wish I could turn back time, at least to 2014. But if there's ONE (1) thing I could change or avert from happening, it would be stopping myself from buying a floor model Vaio from PC Richards and Son for close to two grand. I wanted a "portable computer that could play games", when I really meant "a computer that can run and record MUGEN much better than my eMachines". Only problem is, what kind of hardware would I be looking at for a 2009 PC? Was Core2Quad still viable in spite of the new i series? What about the GTX 200 series, were they better than Radeons, or was PhysX as abundant as it is now? I only had a 360 at that point, and even then it was packed away, instead opting to play my NES.

Maybe if you find a hidden gem from old days that you really like, like I did.
I just had a blast with some obscure game called Road Trip: arcade edition.
I felt like I was 10 again.
>>
12 year olds today will look back and think it didn't get any better than 2016

Not him, but 12 year olds that come here say COD and Halo are the shit.
You could see it with the kids of 6 years old back when halo combat evolved was out. They think Halo 2 is fucking great and now they are 18-20.
It is a never ending cycle, but deluded yourself if you want.

Except that year had nothing special.

Now if we were to say the golden age of vidya: 1997-2001 well, i dont think vĂdeo games will ever be as good.

Except people who lived through console generations 3, 4, 5, and 6 saw constant technological breakthroughs every other year for decades.

I agree OP
back then I was 15 playing GTA IV on my 360 fearing the RRoD would happen at any time

Then halfway through that year I started learning Japanese

Became fluent about 5 years later experiencing some of the finest vidya around

But nothing will ever take away that time...

When I used to run away and ditch school to play classic dota with friends
Or ditch class to play counter strike with bros

or just fuck around with your old friends

2007~2008 was really fucking magical

Vidya peaked for me in the early 00's. Steady decline after 2005.

>Vidya will never be as fun as it was when you were 13
>implying
I don't even remember what I was playing when I was 13, all I remember were decent GameCube games that failed to live up to the N64 and SNES counterparts, and a lot of third party second-rate games. Today, though:
>A thousand hours of glorious monster hunter co-op with a group of friends.
>Playing a variety of multiplayer games throughout the past few years with that same group, sometimes co-op, sometimes competitive, always good.
>Souls games being the best action-adventure games since A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.
>Actually understanding fighting games now, gitting gudder and loving them more with every day that passes.
Gaming has never been better. But sure, if instead of refining and increased my understanding of my tastes, I had gotten complacent and just expected the mainstream gaming industry to feed me exactly what I wanted with zero effort from my part, then sure gaming is not as good as it was when I was a child and anything I consumed was fresh and interesting, even the garbage.
