This is very likely and people are either oblivious to it or simply ignorant. Character roster is already pretty full and she is attacked in the trailer. Keep in mind, developers have tried to get rid of Phoenix all together in the DS game until Capcom made them include him in the game regardless of a new protagonist. If they are willing to switch main characters so easily there is no doubt they are not about killing off a support one.
