It's rare to find a thread holding authentic discussion amongst experienced and truly passionate gamers. However, I won't be making any posts regarding yet to be released projects from now on since it's difficult to come off as sincere as opposed to someone simply advertising for an ulterior motive. This will be my last FF XV thread I suppose since I was going to go off /v/ soon anyway in order to avoid spoilers. So please... give it up for me one more time:

Even worse is that you can only really play around with the Iron Giant. Sure, I can get good at facing that one enemy but then I immediatley go back to Shota Noctis.

The demo is really weird, I was expecting it to have actual story relevance to the "event" that puts babby Noctis in a wheelchair, but it's just this weird whymsical pseudo-KH thing with the player abruptly being pushed into combat with no real education on how it works other than "attack with O and defend with X".
I get that it was made with a small team and it's meant to be a tech demo, but Joe Public isn't gonna get anything from it other than the game looks too kiddy for them.

I don't understand why they thought this would sell people on the game. It fails as a tech demo with the technical issues, it fails to demonstrate what the full game will be like because it takes place in a KH-ish dream world instead of being a vertical slice like Duscae and it fails to show off the combat well as it doesn't bother to explain anything, hides two of the weapons for some reason and only gives you one big slow enemy to fight and that's your lot. No party members, no multiple enemies, no option to see what these two game modes are they've talked about.

No-one understands that Platinum Demo was a specially made treat for us meant to be a SEPARATE and CANON entry point into this fantastical realm. It explicitly ties into the anime as well. Considering it to be a side-quest wouldn't be wrong either. There's something in it for everyone. Even children and old people can easily get into it and finish it. When will you learn /v/?

That's the point, this demo is confusing and a lot of people won't know what to make of it, so it fails to do it's job.

getting pretty hype. Have been playing the demo a lot and experimenting with the combat. It has more depth that you would initially expect from the almost automatic warpattacking that happens with the airsword.
also that game informer article spoke of choosing abilities based on playstyle, upgrading auto dodge if you're shit at action or upgrading other abilities to have a gameplay style that is more "effort = reward"
Together with the fact that in the demo the airsword is the only weapon with the auto warp I think we can expect more manual gameplay from the full game.
The weapon switching itself is actually a lot like dmc3/4 since each weapon has it's own abilities, so you'll find yourself switching to one weapon for a certain effect and then switching back to another to keep attacking.
I'm still cautious but goddamn please be the best game ever.

Also I forgot to mention that the input lag is directly influenced by the current framerate. If you point the camera towards the floor the frame rate is higher, and the inputs respond quicker. If they up the performance, and dare I say it, achieve 60fps I think it's going to play very nicely.

They'll never achieve 60fps on consoles. Maybe locked 30, but i doubt even the final release will be fully locked
But for 60fps on that engine you'd need a rather decent PC or 2 more years of optiization
