Gonna be honest, I never liked the idea of limited save features. I don't care if a game doesn't have auto-save or that you can't save anywhere but having limited amount of saves destroyed me as someone who saved every time he passed a save point in a different save slot.

Except that it's not, it's not even harder on pad. It's even easier now since 95% of fighting games have shoryuken take priority over hadouken if you're one of those people who just goes spastic on the controller.
It's just that no one wants to take the 1 minute to learn it and the 15 minutes to make it muscle memory.
