For no apparent reason a fuckton of people remember this book series being called the "Berenstein Bears" yet it's actually "Berenstain Bears".
A possible explanation is that the people who remember it as Berenstein are from a parallel universe that merged with the Berenstain universe.

I remember my parents pronouncing it "steen", even though stein would be pronounced "stine". Because of this I particularly paid close attention to the spelling which was indeed stain, which further confused me because it seemed it should be pronounced neither steen nor stine
