>there are people who think visuals on the right actually look better
Explain yourselves.

Well the right side is more detailed with a wider range of colors and while still cartoony, it doesn't look comedically so.

both look sophisticated
>>
The graphics look good, the one on the right has a better perspective to it and it's a little more down to earth and realistic, it's the gameplay of all HoMM games that are fundamentally flawed and downright bad.
>>
The orange of the trees is too bright, it clashes with the blue. Other than that, right is technically more detailed.

Why do you try to start a shitpost thread about the best HoMM game faggot?
Explain yourself.

Anyone here played Age of Wonders?

I know it's a blatant HoMnM ripoff but I enjoyed it.

Both are good for different reasons but you can see more at once on the right
>>
Well, HoMM3 is more readable (higher contrast and resolution etc), has a richer colour palette, I like the perspective better, the UI elements are definitely better, it has a more down-to-earth style and while not seen in the screenshot, I like the animations better.

I do appreciate HoMM2 having proper drawn sprites rather than sprites made from 3D models like HoMM3 appears to have and that counts for a lot, but does it counteract everything I said above? I can't quite decide.

anyone here played Armies of Exigo?

I know it's a blatant Warcraft III ripoff but I enjoyed it.

You can see more on the right because it's actually higher resolution, 800x600 to 640x480. Actual sprite size is roughly the same.

>HoMM3
>higher contrast
I'd agree about the palette but the contrast is purposefully toned down. The hero's green pants and the green powerup location basically blend right into the grass.
