That was never the review scale. If anything, the problem was that today's 7-10 scale actually had a purpose because you had far more games people might actually play that were outright broken. Contrary to popular belief on /v/, the general standards of the games have considerably improved in modern gaming. You might say that the best isn't nearly as good as it used to be, but if you randomly chose a game from a respectable publisher these days, you're much more likely to get a good or fair game than you were before. This isn't merely nostalgia for older gaming but for older review scores, and it's not really based on history.

And DaS3 doesn't go towards that? It is the first game other than Bloodborne to make a shift to current graphics. The first 3 were all relatively similar with small increments as they were same gen, DaS2 arguably worse in some ways than DaS1.

Not that surprising 2bh. Dark Souls 3 was a mixed team effort. It was Miyazaki co directing with a B-Team director and they were leading B-Team. Of course it would be an 8/10 effort.
Meanwhile S-Team (Miyazaki + From's A Team + Sony) made Bloodborne so naturally it's the superior game.

I was okay with it, it was an interesting way to get new players into the setting and style of the game and served as an interesting contrast to when shit goes down and the game actually starts.
The only awful part was the stupid Wolf Link Twili Souls challenges, I heard the Remaster made it less drawn out but it would've been better to just have the minibosses and that's it.

I am just saying that you couldn't release a game looking like Dark Souls today and have that be acceptable. Naturally, Dark Souls III has better graphics than any previous entry, making in that sense a better game, but standards have increased because it's a new generation. More importantly, the effect that Dark Souls has on gamers has diminished and Bloodborne did more to recreate that then Dark Souls III does.
