I played it only recently and ended up enjoying it despite the fact that I have several friends who think it's the second coming of christ and won't shut the fuck up about it.
I don't get people who absolutely hate it. I didn't spend money on the game so maybe my view is different but I found it to be fairly fun, not 10/10 GOTYAY like a lot of people said, but fun.
My biggest problems with it were

>Some bosses just involve waiting for several rounds until they're done talking, then sparing them, your input doesn't matter that much between beginning and end
>Seems to borrow a little too heavily from earthbound, cave story, etc.

Anyways, Undertale was the second best game to come out in 2015 right behind Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. Really strong game in terms of music, story, gameplay, and characters. Imperfect though.
