To be honest my man, as a 9 year Gear player we need to keep things fresh in a meaningful way that doesn't hurt the series. You guys remember in Gears whenever it was just you and another guy you'd both come out from cover, melee the air and initiate a 1 on 1 battle? 99% of the time you wouldn't use the cover to bounce around, you'd just have a proper duel to see who the best shot was. Good times, I miss the gears days in general. Some of my best online experiences came through Gears. I'm actually feeling a bit choked up thinking about it. Games nowadays can't even come close to the absolute pure pleasure I experienced on this shit. The banter, the rage, the laughter. I wouldn't call them zombies since they seem to be sentient, the drone at least, and it has never been explained what limits imulsion has, we know it can mutate living beings, give serans sickness and can be used as energy, maybe it can also create new life from rooting bodies, makes sense if you think about how life in our planet started only they got a fast Kickstart thanks to imulsion powerful mutation, this is all speculation of course.

Gears Judgment was a cash grab the MS wanted to do to milk Epic out of one last Gears game because Epic told them they were finished. Yeah, the original trilogy is top tier, really one of the only reasons to buy a 360.
If you're gonna play it you could get 1, 2, 3 on 360 and play there, but if you had an Xbone which I doubt you do, UE is a way better version of Gears 1, then you could play 2 and 3 through back compat, ignore Judgment, you could watch a playthrough of it just to see the story of before Gears 1 but its really bad. Gears 3 has story DLC which is pretty damn good aswell. Gears 1 also, but its like a 20 minute extra chapter, which aint that good.
I almost forgot UE was on PC, if you have W10. you could get it there for like $9 by buying it from the Ukraine MS Store and then get 2 and 3 on 360 for cheap to save a good amount of $

Honestly, Gears is not everyone's game. But if you happen to enjoy a little bit of it you know you are in for a wild ride.
Gears 1, 2 & 3 are pretty cheap (5$ each on gamestop or find digital codes online for cheap) and you can play the 360 versions on the xboner.
Campaigns are fun, Horde mode is Great, Multiplayers is beast so you may wanna skip it for a while until you know enough about the core mechanics.
