>tfw you will never understand the quality of multiplayer games unless you were there
>tfw all those exhilarating moments in time on virtual battlefields exist only in your memories
To think what's become of battlefield now.
Ah, well, the time for fun has long passed.
>>333375254
A toast to fallen comrades, may their memory never be forgotten
>tfw you will never play BF2, CoD2, CS 1.6 and Wolfenstein ET in lan with your friends ever again
>>333375736
If none of your friends want to do that you need new friends.
>>333375870
They're probably in their 30s with families, anon. If they were say, 18 in 2002, then they would all be around 32 now.
>>333375614
>that game that you always hear legends about but will never get to experience in it's prime
Whats her name, /v/?
>>333375512
Nothing tips 1942, But BF4 isn't too bad, it's about as good as Vietnam or BF2. It's just Bad Company memers upset that it's not a Call of Duty clone.
>>333376919
>upset that it's not a Call of Duty clone.
It's hilarious how Battlefield is touted as the antithesis to Call of Duty when they are almost identical.
>>333375614
Played so much of that game. ET was not as good in my opinion.
There is still a few people playing these days, but the only server with anyone on it is just the beach!
>>333376752
All the Multiplayer console games like Gears of War basically. I do own a Xbox360 (i won it) but aside from never really owning more than 10 games, I never purchased Gold (because I view it as a maximum rip-off) and the games were always ridiculously expensive. So yeah I missed out on Consoles.

If ID hadn't been so retarded and would have revived Wolfenstein ET by mixing it with Quake Live, when it was still F2P, they could have gotten a goldmine. But no, they didn't listen.
>The era of WW2 FPS games being churned out endlessly has come back
>All these newfags that didn't suffer through the endless sea of homogenous, safe, cookie cutter WW2 games pre-2007
>People only remember the rare good ones that set the standard in 2000-2002.
>Don't remember the hundreds of shitty 'me too' games that followed and all looked, sounded, and played almost exactly the same.
>Cycle is beginning again with 'muh nostalgia' bullshit like Battalion 1944 and Day of Victory
>Can't even tell the games apart.
>All the normies crying about futuristic stuff because they think CoD/Battlefield set in WW2 is somehow more 'realistic' ensures that all the AAA devs will hop on the bandwagon, and spur countless smaller companies to make their own 'me too's to cash in.
I'm really not looking forward to the next few years.
>>333375254
Played them all, loved them all.
>you will never ever again play Foy on United Offensive in the prime years
>>333377618
holy shit satchel charging those bunkers in whatever that game mode was called. then getting a tank shell to the fucking face as you tried to escape.
I put something like 50 hours into bo3 trying to enjoy it but its amazing how good map design and weapons that felt different from each other can't be compensated for by half-assed wallrunning and a gay pride parades worth of player skins.
>>333376752
Star Wars Galaxies. Wish I could have been there, but by the time I had my own income to pay for any sort of sub to a game it was on life support in the post combat upgrade era.
>>333377595
dafug is Day of Victory?
>>333377756
You poor, poor sod.
>>333376919
>BF4 isn't too bad
I bet you think 2142 was good too.
>Only 4 classes
>Unlock progression cancer in a multiplayer game
>The unlock cancer was many times more obnoxious than the mild weapon unlocks in 2. Complete fucking grindfest, even having to unlock the basic functions of your class.
>Classes are reworked to make everyone a one-man army
>Teamwork completely dies as a result
>Net-code and optimization in general were complete dogshit, especially on titan mode, where lag and terrible collision programming made it a clunky mess.
>Game was unbalanced as fuck
>Pocket rockets fucking everywhere.
>Terrible, bland, featureless maps that were empty as fuck.
>Killed Battlefield more than Bad Company ever could.
The only cool thing about 2142 was the setting and vehicles.
>>333377791
A day of defeat clone that is pretty much identical to Battalion 1944 in every single way, with it's gimmick being a map editor.
>>333375254
missed one
>>333377453
You really should have somebody to love at your age, anon.
>>333377957
I was trying to google for it but all I get is Men of War and Hearts of Iron links.
>>333378087
My bad. Days of War. These games always have generic as fuck titles that blend together.
>>333377749
BASE ASSAULT
One of the greatest moments for me ever was succesfully laying and defending all 3 satchel charges and winning the game in a few minutes .
Wonderful times.
>>333378273
thanks, it's weird that there were never any real news about Days of War.
>>333377453
me too brother, me too.
>>333378464
It's another kikestarter game like Battalion 1944. These kinds of games get less press now that people have been burned so many times unless they pull in a shitload of money
>>333378040
Easier said than done whippersnapper. Better to be alone than to love someone who doesn't love you or even worse have both of you fake it due to obligations.
>>333375254
>you replay them
>they look so fucking garbage
>now that sweet nostalgia is completely ruined
>>333377453
Don't feel bad anon. Once you get past 28-ish you kinda stop having real friends. Once everyone gets in their marriages and start having kids, they never have the time or resources to actually do shit, and the few times they escape their families they never get to do anything fun because they have too many obligations and baggage.
We're all alone after a certain point. 'Maturity' is a fucking trap. That's why bitter, resentful fags say you're not a 'real man' if you don't settle down. They don't want to confront their buyer's remorse and the fact that they were bamboozled out of their freedom and happiness and feel the need to drag others down so they don't look like idiots.
>>333378671
So i watched their video. While the destructible environment is neat and the editor is a fun idea, why do they add IRONSIGHTS into their game when their characters run at sanic speed, even Day of Defeat characters weren't that fast!
>>333378838
my friend, the OP said that these are only in your memories for a reason - you don't go back to them to avoid breaking the perfect illusion.
don't forget, though, that visuals are only a part of the experience -- the music is timeless.

origin just did an on the house freebie for MOH pacific assault, so i have to play that for a first-time experience. MOH frontline and MOHAA are my memory pair, however, and they're likely staying that way. if you're lucky you can still pick up pacific assault for free if you don't mind playing it.
LIKE TEARS IN RAIN
I was there
