I agree, but choosing between story or classic mode is a kick in the gut.
EOU1 had content only accessible to story mode players and could not be 100%'d in classic. Grimoire farming was bullshit.
EOU2 fixes the grimoire system and doesn't have content locked away form classic mode but the MC is overpowered.
I understand people who did not like the story characters can hate the untold remakes.

also even if you play on Classic the bosses were redesigned with the Farnir class in mind. Meaning you basically HAVE to do the boss puzzles to even have a shred of a chance on first encounters.

Ricky crits somewhat often and with the stronger crit damage skill she can hit pretty high
I don't really like the grimoire system in general. Even beyond the need to grind for them, a huge amount of the math in EOU2 simply doesn't work the way its supposed to in order to keep combat from getting totally busted as a result of being able to put nearly anything on any party member. Tons of hidden exceptions to how things stack, despite the fact the 3-stack limit has always been there specifically to simplify things. To the point where finding the few things they forgot to keep from stacking lets you completely break the game and deal like 35,000 damage hits.
