I had this game on my PC. Played the shit out of it for so long. Too bad it's a bitch to get running on today's computers. So many good courses and racers. I remember unlocking Sebulba's pod racer and realizing how HUGE it is compared to all the others PLUS it had a flamethrower on the side to destroy other podracers. I mostly played as the long necked 4 armed guy though.

Best done with a fully upgraded Neva Kee. His pod is one of the fastest that doesnt sacrifice it for maneuverability. Quadrinaros is notably faster, but his straight-to-turn time and turning radius arent as good.

Swap Navior with Neva Kee. Kee could boost for a good 4s longer, and reached a higher boost speed (~950 for Kee vs ~800 for Navior), and had nearly as good control.

I loved buying stuff from the scrapyard just to have a totally overpowered machine in the next race.
If I wasn't racing on Baroonda through the bullshit swamp and destroying every component, that is.
Also, for my last race I had to switch to a faster pod because my Block6 thrust coil was completely fucked. I like though, how you get your stuff repaired after the last race.

I dont think anyone has every truly figured out how it worked. I know crashing and engine damage had an effect, but the precise specifics about it have eluded me at least.
Cheesing the junkyard though for busted but awesome parts is the best way to go about upgrading the pod though.

The Dreamcast version shits on the N64 version. In terms of futuristic racers on N64, I'd go with F-Zero X or Extreme G.
But yeah, the Rush series was great. The first Rush was actually my very first N64 game back when we got one in like 97. I never played Rush 2 until I emulated it on Retroarch a few months ago, and I pirated 2049 on Dreamcast

I recently re-beat SWRacerEP1 on N64 and I realized that I find Fire Mountain Rallye harder than Abyss without upgrades while the AI's are suppose to be at "Fast" in tournament because of the "Winner-takes-all" but it felt satisfying once I managed to beat the course without upgraded Anakin, it just took a lot of retries.

If you have problems getting this to work on Win7 you can emulate the N64 game instead.
The emulators have better options for higher resolution and gamepad input anyways
