/v/ help me out, the circle pad on my n3ds is broken like in pic related. What should I do? Give it to Nintendo and have them charge me $50 to fix it, Give it to a local guy that would change it for $20 on his own (No company or anything), or do jack shit and have it broken forever?
>>
>>333350841
no u retart you just put a dab of rubber cement on it and stick it back
>>
Stop sperging at your games.
>>
>>333350841
If it's just the plastic in the disk that's broken off, you can just superglue a thing to the nub and it'll work just fine.

That's what the $20 guy will do.
>>
Superglue
>>
>>333350841
crazy glue and trade it in at gamestop
>>
>>333350961
>>333350969
>>333350970
Wait really? From what I understood they had to un-screw the thing to put a new Circle Pad in the system or something.
>>
>>333350970
What a scumbag
Preferably at a gamestop you won't ever visit again.
>>
Is that Kid Icarus? How the hell can you break your circle pad on that game? You only use it to move/dodge.
>>
When it happened to mine I just kept using the little plastic nub that's left.

Once you get used to it it's actually just as easy to control games as it is with the full pad.
>>
>>333351476
Nah. Just check that the nub is still responsive and the stick is centering properly. If you look on the underside of the pad, you'll see the cracked little inner plastic ring that originally held the thing together.

>>333351572
They're pretty fragile, and Sakurai games are built for destroying analog pads because of all the left/right "smash" inputs.

>>333351615
Hurts like hell though.
>>
>>333351676
Why not just send it to Nintendo for repairs? It is just $50.
>>
>>333351676
>Hurts

Maybe yours is more jagged. Mine didn't hurt at all, even playing Sm4sh.

I have a New now anyway though.
>>
>>333351771
Because I don't feel something like that is worth $50. That's like playing someone $20 to fix the save from old Gameboy games when you can do it for around $12
>>
>>333351771
Because I'm Chinese and it's against my nature and superglue is a tenth of that.
>>
Buy a fucking superior 3rd party replacement circle pad off ebay for $5 and use an online guide to fix it yourself.

It's not goddamn complicated.
>>
>>333351901
>Ia m Chinese
You seem more like le happy merchant if anything
But then you wouldn't have bought the 3ds in the first place.
>>
what the fuck did you do to it?
>>
Replace it with a PSP control nub.
>>
>>333351852
>$12 for a battery

wut
>>
>>333350841
order the parts and repair it yourself faggot. Only takes a little googling.
>>
>>333350959
This. I've had a 3ds since release and I'm thinking the only way you get them like that is by being too violent with it.
>>
>>333352161

I've done research into this, OP. Here's your options.

If your not running a CFW/modded system, you can call Nintendo and say it fell off without abuse or misuse.

You can buy a cheap Chinese one which won't match the color off of eBay.

You can steal one from a Circle Pad Pro attachment.

You can replace it with one from shapeways, there is a guy over there that makes plastic and metal ones.

Remember that the O3DS and 2DS use a different circle pad than n3ds, O3DSXL, and n3dsXL. The older ones are fatter and shaped differently. Afaik the circle pad pro XL has the smaller one that is used by the N3DS.

Good luck

>It's just 50
>>

They're commonly faulty. Some people can brutalize them constantly without breaking, but most people who regularly play games with even moderately intensive circle pad controls will eventually break them.

It's not uncommon for them to break even under light wear, and many people have complained of their pads being faulty new from the box.

People have complained of 3DS systems feeling gritty, snagging, or clicking right out of the box, and Nintendo's official stance is that this is "normal" and not a problem.

tl;dr Nintendo ships faulty shit

>>333351771
With those same $50 I can buy a new copy of the latest Pokemon game, a milkshake, pop corn, print 20 pictures of Katy Perry & a used copy of Super Man 64

>>333353141
No you can't. A new copy of Pokemon is $40 and SM64 is $25.

i wonder how long it's gonna be before Matty smoke pot and then realizes what was happening since his dad said he looked like they could make a buck off of him.

What if I bought my 3DS out of state (Still being NTSC, just purchased outside my home country.) and my warranty is out? Will they charge me?
>>
>>333353405
>Six-pack of Mr. Pibb Xtra $5.99
>5.5lb of Red Vines $16.99

>>
>>333351476
You can do that yourself if that's what's really broken. I took apart my 3DS and replaced the shoulder buttons when they started going bad. Cost me around $12 for the parts and screwdriver set.

Don't superglue it back yet. Get a better slide pad with more grip, like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Cyber-x30FB-Premium-Slide-Cover-Clear/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1459919439&sr=8-3&keywords=3ds+slide+pad

Yes the plastic makes it look ugly, but trust me when I say the grip is a godsend. Source: 400 hours of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
>>
>>333355913
I was looking at those, but are they good? I was hoping to get a grey one like the original one.
>>
You can buy the piece for less than $4.00 on ebay.

The hardest part about doing it yourself is not stripping the screws.
>>
>>333356371
>I was looking at those, but are they good? I was hoping to get a grey one like the original one.
Like I said, I spent 400+ hours on MH4U with one of those. I used to hate how slippery the slide pad was, it made it hard to keep control of it without having to lift my finger to reset my grip frequently. Never again once I had that shit on it. Look at pretty much any controller for any console, you'll notice the stick has some texture on it, whether because of the material or because of some physical bumps or ridges on it. It really helps, and I couldn't recommend it more.

You could also be a monster and just cut a grid pattern into your current slide pad to give it some extra friction, but it doesn't make as much of a difference.

Please never try fixing anything yourself if you're too fucking stupid/clumsy to handle using a #0 correctly.
>>
>>333357287
Exactly? Are you being dense?
>>
This never happens on Vita :^)
>>
>>333357490
Yeah cause it doesn't have any good games. ^:)
>>
>>333357331
See, they put this little spinner on the end. And what you do is, you hold onto that with your thumb and forefinger on one hand, while gently turning the screwdriver with the other. You then do the same when putting the screws back in, and stop about 1/4 turn after you first feel resistance.

Oh man, that's so damn hard!
>>
>>333357648
The 3DS? I know.

This won't get us anywhere.

just buy a replacement nub thing and find the right screwdriver and lookup a guide, it's the first one on google

cost me 10$ and 10mins
>>
>>333357835
That's the point

Came here to say this >>333350969

I had a broken circle pad on my O3DS, superglue works just fine.

felt nice when i got my N3DS, though.

>>333357490
Of course it never happens, cause the shita never gets played.

Why the fuck isn't this standard. I mostly play pokemon, hardly use the circle pad, and the edge of it is starting to peel off. Fucking jewtendo
>>
>>333358657
My directional pads are feeling rough, and I mostly play Pokemon too. Is it happening to you, too?
