Why can't I like this game more?
After all the previews, characters and the art style, I was really excited for this game. I used to enjoy TF2, L4D1 and 2 and Quake/Unreal tournament as a kid. I was excited for this. Awhile ago, I finally got into the beta. I played it and was having fun.
But after about 15-20 hours, I'm honestly bored of it and have no real desire to play it again. It just feels repetitive, bland and gets old quickly from a game perspective. I still love the art style and characters, but the actual game? Eh.
Is it shallow or bad as a shooter, or am I just getting old? Maybe it's because it's beta and will have more content on release? I want to like it and I'm not even entirely certain why I have no desire to play more.
I'll be playing it because it won't be full of 12 year old f2p faggots, and it'll be interesting playing the game right as it launches when everyone's still learning how to get good and shit.

The only other shooter I ever liked was BF:BC2, but that died quickly even though that was probably the best Battlefield game yet.

It's not free so it's less likely for a child to download and play it out of sheer curiosity.
The double edge sword in this case is that a f2p game while would bring out alot of anything and idiotic people playing the game it does help the longevity of it, even for a little while. Overwatch has the burden of being a muliplayer game only meaning it's playability is directly linked to the number of people playing it. But the longer the game is out the less likely people will buy it until sales completely drop and sooner or later most of the time people move on to another game. Requiring other people to play, people eventually leaving and no more people buying the game gives the game an unknown expiration date.
But stranger things have happened. Look at TF2 who was burdened with all the same problems but manages to be the third most played game on Steam after 9 years.

Tf2 is still a great game but it's not quite the same game it once was. The aesthetic and design of TF2 is fucked and so many new weapons create so many new ways to play the game as well as classes having balance changes that greatly change how people view them. Maps as time went on also improved a followed certain rules and meta's that wasn't used in the games release.
Reminder that there was once a terrible time when Pyro couldn't airblast, Demo could shoot six grenades at a time, Payload didn't exist and Capture the Flag was considered a viable gamemode.

For me? Infinity, because I'll never go back to TF2. TF2 turned into a game I no longer recognize. When I want to play TF, I can't play TF2 because it isn't fucking Team Fortress anymore. I haven't played TF2 in years.
There is currently no game on the market that is like Team Fortress. Overwatch will be the first in a very long time. Overwatch isn't made to take people away from TF2, it is made to fill the niche that TF2 left and reclaim the players it alienated.

mostly all base kits for all mercs are pretty good just to pick up and play.
kind of like tf2 vanilla weapons are.
all the different kits and mercs can be unlocked with a pretty good amount of grind.
but you get free crates every once in a while that drop kits. and if youre lucky you can get ones that you like.
1 bronze kit costs 17500 ingame currency, but you get to pick the exact one you want.
(bronze is the best kit besides cosmetic ones)
1 merc either costs 30000 or 50000 ingame money
3 quests per every few hours give 500 750 and 1000 money
(so you can leave the game and come back)
and every win gives you a couple hundred.
....
so its a pay to not grind casual game.
it's prettyfunand fills the gap of tf2/overwatch
