/v/ liked Undertale during the demo days and after it came out. Everyone was trying to find all the secrets and the first few days' threads were really comfy with (almost) zero furfaggotry.

The mainstream started to notice the game when it got a Metascore of 97 on four reviews. That's when its cancerous fanbase of furries and 'muh feels' and 'so deep and social justice so good' fags started getting into it.

Undertale is shitposted here not because of the quality of the game, but because of the fanbase it attracts. By shitting on Undertale all these fags are told to stay the fuck out. It's like Narutoposting on /a/.
>>
>>333315471
I didnt find HLD great, particularly. It tries too hard to be difficult, which led to unbalanced bosses that catches new players off-guard(it was my case because my first boss was the north bird mage and i found it pretty difficult for its randomness and shitty hitbox collisions for a fast game). But that is my only complaint, I love it's artstyle and mechanics.

One of the reasons I take points off of HLD is that it could have an interesting puzzle-piece style figure it out narrative, but once you understand that the lead dev has a critical heart disease(he named the fucking company Heart Machine), the last boss and any semblance of mysterious story turn into pure shit via a stupid message about the various forms of futility.

No, quit with the revisionist history that just so happens to suit your narrative.

/v/ turned on the game because the fact that it had a Metascore that was higher than The Phantom Disappointment upset Kojimacucks and they started to shitpost in Undertale threads. This event predated the explosion of the fanbase.

Oh fuck off.

It's not just Undertale, you hipsters do this with every single indie game that gets any sort of mainstream exposure, suddenly it becomes your fucking job to start shitposting in threads, whereas you'll leave threads about lesser-known games with no exposure alone because it's not a target-rich environment.

That's exactly what it is. Undertale is a boring game with very little gameplay depth that completely serves it's narrative bullshit. It's a feels game and nothing more that has been shilled to hell and back, yes many people were disappointed because of the inflated meta critic. This isn't so much me being contrarian as you being a pleb, I like plenty of very popular games undertale is just not that good.
>>
>>333320148
No it wasnt. Maybe 5 or 6 posts a thread, nowhere near what we have now
>>
>>333319496

Quit with the revisionist history.

The reason why people started shitposting in Undertale thread was because it got a higher Metacritic score than the Phantom Pain and kojimacucks started shitposting in them. This predates the explosion of the fanbase.

And how is that the game's fault? If anything, that's an indictment of how shitty a system metacritic is - people are honestly stupid enough to believe that you can get objectivity by mashing a bunch of subjective reviews together.

Either way, it's a weak after-the-fact rationalization for shitposting. I hated the second Half Life game, but you don't see me shitposting in every single HL2 nostalgia thread.

What a fantastic fighting game this was. I was always pretty casual towards fighting games before, I enjoyed playing them on the odd time. Smashing buttons and what not. The only fighting series I followed growing up and playing was Soul Calibur prior. Friend told me to get Blazblue, I enjoyed it and ended up seeing a thread about it. Someone mentions you should try Guilty Gear. $15 wasn't that much so I bought and my word was I blown away. This was the fighter that got me into the genre for more than just a button masher. I wanted to improve and I wanted to beat everybody I played against online. It really reinvigorated my interest in games since lately they've been so stale and hand holding where I haven't had an actual challenge from one for a long time and fighting games now scratch that itch for me with Guilty Gear being my favorite.
>>
>>333319817
>>333320573

Because getting "put off" by the fanbase of a single player game is such a stupid concept I don't even know where to begin.

Like, somebody getting put off by the community of a MOBA makes sense, because you have to play with 4 other people and they can completely ruin your experience. But the act of playing a single player game is solitary, by definition. It requires no interaction with the "community", whatever the fuck that even means in the context of a single player game.

For example, I also enjoyed the hell out of Freedom Planet. Am I now a part of the "Freedom Planet" community? Is there even a community out there? I don't know and I don't care, all I know is that it was a kickass game and I enjoyed playing it.

No, but MGR is OBJECTIVELY vastly simpler and shallower than any other notable game in the genre. It's fun but the combat is totally broken and an awful system.

I fired a fully upgraded sniper rifle from freedom at it like 50 times. BEWARE the final "boss fight" is really glitchy, it several runs of the game, I've got it to work properly once. when you get to the point with a gauss rifle and teleporters, you've more or less finished the game

I agree completely. I played it when it was well-liked here, and I was excited because I love the premise and the design of the robots (only in the first one) but I found it horrible. No, /v/ ruined it for itself.

the ironic part is anyone that has been here for a few years would know Dark Souls was out for quite a while before becoming popular, not to mention Demon's Souls.

When I first got DaS I had never even heard of it as I only went on /v/ infrequently, I just thought it looked neat and went in expecting a passable budget hack and slash but it became my favorite game for a period of time, I was blown away.

Literally everything I had ever wanted out of a space game.

I don't hate you anon, I would have hated you if you only liked 2 despite it being my favorite one.

You really fucking need to play 1 and then 3, and it's imperative that you do so in that order. 1 could definitely be considered better than 2, and 3 is fucking great too.

the only thing I'd really heard about the game when I got it was that it was challenging, but felt rewarding

Don't even like Atlus or weebshit all that much, but screens of it on here looked interesting so I bought a used copy on that whim. One of my favorite games now.

Mount and blade: Warband. For once this place was right.

Dustforce

No game has satisfied me like finally getting SS on a hard level.

I think the really impressive thing about DaS difficulty is the curve of it, it easily has the best learning curve I've ever seen in a game. Almost everyone struggles really, really hard on their first ever Souls game, regardless of which one it is, but once they get good they can breeze through consecutive playthroughs and won't have that much trouble on the other entries. I remember struggling on Ornstein and Smough for fucking DAYS, but now on every playthrough I beat them first try without taking more than 1-2 hits.

Parts of BB still give me trouble though even after almost 1000 hours. Logarius, Ebrietas, and any of the DLC or late-game chalice bosses all give me a run for my money. BB is DEFINITELY the hardest one.

The bosses were fine. The problem is the rest of the game was too easy.

maybe the thing is that BB goes against the conventions that the series has set up, I've not played it yet myself, but I feel like I'd be fighting muscle memory too, when I'm playing it.
