Layman's guesses as to what this is about:
- A device that can display images without any need for a traditional screen using various forms of surface projection - onto a table, onto a wall, onto a specialized surface attached to the unit (see the first image at the link) - and can also display images using other traditional screens like phones (see the second image at the link)
- A device that supports augmented reality (projected) interfaces in addition to traditional controllers
- A device that can scan other objects (like amiibo) without coming into physical contact with them (I'd be curious how they'd tackle the problem of reading data recorded to the NFC chip, of course)
It's basically a computer system designed around light projection and light sensing for its display and interface.
