No, they don't. The only good areas in Dark Souls were Sen's Fortress and the first look at Anor Londo. Dark Souls 2 was abysmal besides Dragon Aerie and all 3 DLC areas. Generic Western architecture, shittily put together texture work, awful filters, being an absolute chore (not difficult, just boring) to run through are things that marred every other level in those two games.

DS2's DLC levels were decent but nothing compared to Bloodborne, and surely not enough to save DS2 from the shit it was.

Sure thing faggot, I liked Dark Souls but the designers picked "chore" in most decisions between ease and chore.

I will say that I was so soured after Lost Izalith that I just wanted to get New Londo and Kiln of the First Flame over with

But there's nothing obviously wrong with any level in Dark Souls like there was Lost Izalith, which was very short, had two uninteresting copy-pasted enemies everywhere and whatever the fuck the Chaos Eater was, and had the worst boss. More on topic, I would of course not say most levels in Dark Souls are anything approaching "God-like"

If anything was really poorly-done with Dark Souls it is total lack of any fuck I give about any character or lore in that game. From the beginning, through Kings Field, through all of Armored Core, and up to the Souls series, From Software could not write a story or characters to save their cocks and balls. Easily the most frustrating part of being a From fan

Honestly a lot of the time I feel weird when I see a ladder in a game, in a lot of them it just feels like poor level design to force you to disable all your abilities except movement for a few seconds instead of a more natural path of jumps or slopes. Only game I can think of where the ladders feel like pretty reasonable additions in spite of that, just because of the environments in which they appear, is Half-life.

awful, awful taste. Nightmare Frontier is really cool and otherwordly, and straight out of Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath, and Forbidden Woods is fucking huge, really well designed, intense, and has great atmosphere. Forbidden Woods is one of the best areas ever you retard.

I like Yahar'Ghul for the atmosphere and utter madness of the level because it's when the lovecraft first kicks in, but the reused enemies are pretty bad.
