I was playing modded Skyrim the other day and after finally killing the first Dragon and returning to Whiterun, three dragons came out of fucking nowhere and started wrecking shit.
Two guards immediately got dive bombed, figured I'd be safe if I went indoors. No such luck. Everyone but guards ran in doors while chaos ensued.

Mate, I'm hardly a challenge obsessed gamer but lets face it, the first frost troll encounter in Skyrim wasn't hard, just the usual difficulty of the TES i.e. mindless tedium.
Oblivion had better enemies that weren't hard just because they had more health. Will o the wisps for instance, were pretty weak to most enchanted weapons and magic but their teleportation tactics and magic absorption powers made them pretty challenging, even alone.

Yeah, no. Skyrim was actually good because you could figure out how each enemy's attack animations are, learn what points you could go weave in and out to attack, when to bash/power attack, etc.
By no means is it god tier execution or a super challenging experience, but it's still the best non CRPG combat in the series (Daggerfall being the only other game with good combat in the series).

I made a shield-maiden kind of character once. She wore robes, heavy boots and gauntlets, used a heavy shield and cloak spells. Absolutely unkillable once you start getting tank perks like Shield Wall.

Skyrim is a fun game with Requiem and a shitton of mods. It's almost a decent hybrid of Morrowind and Oblivion if you get the guild overhauls.
The leveled bear lower on the path or the ice wraiths are worse for me.
Especially bears, fuck them in Skyrim, most annoying enemy. Especially since the loading-screen tooltip for them is something like "Bears are peaceful creatures if you keep your distance," what total bullshit, if you're within a half mile from them they will rush your shit and are among the fastest ground travelling animals in the game. I stopped bothering using horses anywhere in the Rift because half the time a bear would just maul it anyway because horses are slow as shit and combat on them sucks ass.
Temba Wide-Arms is one of my favorite NPCs for obvious reasons.

Really? Bears aren't too bad. Their charge is fast and does a bit of damage, but most of the time their animations are super long and telegraphed, letting you get tons of hits in and letting you save stamina to bash/power attack stagger the rest. Plus bears do give warnings a fair distance away.
Sabercats on the other hand fucking stalk in grass and make no noise until they're already on your ass.
Ice Wraiths are pure terror early game though, I agree.

Recent replay I was rolling a mage, first radiant quest (I had Not So Fast MG active so I wasn't sent to Saarthal right away), I asked was the enchanter guy, he sent me to pick up an item in Raven Rock. So I figured I'd do a few quests there early on, but that didn't work out so well. Ash Guardians in the temple catacombs took forever, I had to cheaply gank them then run out of the tombs, I'd even leave and go in the side door, until I finally ground them down to 2-3 that I could manage running around kiting them like a bitch. Raven Rock mine was a no-go once I started reaching the Draugr Deathlords (ain't fighting them as a single-digit leveled mage with Helgen equipment).
Worst for me was probably one game I was going Companions, and the very first mission I got for them, was to clear out the Falmer cave east of Whiterun. Even kiting and bullshit I still had to lower the difficulty settings (for shame), to get through it, and I didn't even kill the Centurion at the end (I baited the Falmer leader out on its own to kill). That sucked, took several tries to clear it, but made me pretty rich with all the Falmer gear, and the Falmer Bow I got from it was high-tier for early game.

Their only really telegraphed attack is the stand up power attack; their forward lunge bite is very rapid and annoying. But I guess with bears my problem is I've never played a sword/shield melee character yet, so heavy melee combat isn't something I've learned to do. I got Skyrim pretty late, last year, only have done archer/twohanded, and destruction mage, and the speed and HP of bears just is annoying as fuck to me, and it seems I'm always contracting Bone Break Fever. So fuck bears.

Not knowing where to start climbing, I decided to pick a spot, and force my way up to the top, then I had to go down a bit, to reach the building.
But I did encounter a frost troll in my random running around when I was about Lv3.
I kited it around for about an hour, and the fight brought me up in enough levels to then kill it, by accident, as I wanted more levels from it.
