Veteran has you fighting more mobs, and stronger mobs (like more frequent groups of stronger types) so since you fight more mobs, you (obviously) get more loot drops and more exp.
It's all around better. Veteran is the real Normal.

Loads of caster gear will require pretty high spirit, you can get around that a bit by equipping gear that gives you load of spirit but tits still a pain in the ass.
I'm hardly an expert, but I would do something like 1 point in spirit every 3rd or 4th level.

Summoner is a bit tricky when it comes to Stats.
There are ranged, meele and spirit off-hand items that give big bonuses to summons, so if your not sure what you will get, you need an even stats distribution.
Its not that important overall tho, stats mainly effect what items you can wear, not so much your survivability or killspeed in general.

Monsters have to be at least level 50. So naturally Steps of Torment or Bastion of Chaos come to mind.

Uh I really don't know. That's not my specialty. You can get procs through component and Devotion skills, among other things. You could also go Warder and pick up Savagery from the Shaman tree if you REALLY want a skill like that.

Its an ARPG.
The whole point is to grind your Char to the top.
With a good build and a bit of item luck you can progress steadily tho, without much farming.
If it is you 2nd character, things will go a lot faster too, because of the sharable components and crafting recipes.

As a 2H Physical damage character, armor is extremely important to me.
There were times where I couldn't progress and farmed an entire new set of gear for the armor and tripled my armor stat. Then the area was a joke since I was no longer taking damage.
So for melee characters its important along side resistances. For ranged characters it doesn't matter.

You dont build a specific character, you can do every build there is withing your class.
Normally that should give you a huge variety of builds, but there is only a small amount viable.

PoE has already filled the niche for spiritual successor. GD is worth a playthrough, but the lack of online (downgrade from D2), and the lack of endgame content in (current year+1) makes it lose a lot of replayability.

Melee, yea I got destroyed in Elite. After I went back and re-geared to armor focus items, it's been going better.
However, it's very clear ranged = easier & more fun. At least to me.
grim dawn is way too much like titan quest
the only real improvement is the way the game handles targeting units, there's no hard lockon like in titan quest

I played a bit of Titan Quest nut didn't like the setting. The combat was a but slow and didn't feel really satisfying. Grim dawn has way more impact on hit with great sound design except for crossbows. It feels faster. I like the setting more too.

You should max out maiven sphere and mirror. It lowers your dps a bit but the trade off in dmg absorbtion and reflection is insane.
